BITD, one of the first things we did was reverse the cable mounting bolt on the RD so the nut was outside and the bolt was flush on the inside. Much easier to mount and tighten your TD cable that way.

Yes ! @rccardr it is super engineered Dura Ace , I think they call it the 7401 , I could be wrong . Funny story , my beloved Nishiki Altron with said 7401 Dura Ace (I think) rear derailleur that shifted like butter , I traded it for a POS Celest Green Bi-an-kee in a whirlwind moment and now I'm in over my head with a stuck BB and seat post , but that's my personal problem and I'm working on it . It's a two step process . Ahem . OK , from EBay , I found one of the 7401 nuts , I think I can make it work on my 7400 that is on my Comp TA .

I think 7401 derailleur on the Ex Nishiki

7400 (I think) too much windage derailleur

Not everyone thinks they are anything special. They barely get a mention in the Japanese Steel book. I haven't seen anyone say they didn't like them but some people don't share our enthusiasm. Knowing that I want to ride some of the grail bikes and see how much if any difference I can tell. One thing in the Ironman's favor is that @RobbieTunes has owned, traded & sold a fleet of nice bikes and he is a big Centurion fan. Another plus is that this is a very cool clique of bike people! When you find one I am interested in how well you like it.

Tange sticker missing

I have noticed my 88 Master purple haze doesn't have the Tange #1 sticker that all the other Ironman bikes seem to have. Did they run out of stickers that day? Did mine fall in the floor and get swept up at the end of the shift? Did the worker take it home to put in his scrapbook? Is my bike made out of something else? Inquiring minds want to know...

It's a fake. Someone built a Columbus SLX frame and wanted it to be an Ironman.
Most likely, a frame pump tore it up and a previous owner may have removed it and re-cleared or something.

Or, they just forgot. It was 1987. Columbian gold was, like $50/oz....
I dunno, though, Japan was hard-core if you got caught. Very very.

Yeah I am thinking it was never put on. We build $100,000 airplanes with hundreds of inspections. Things still get missed. Some days we are short parts, and we have Monday at least once a week.

What size is this? I have one. My wife has one. My son has one. My daughter needs one. This might still be available when I drive up next month for Eroica CA. If it is a 50 by the IM method, what is the top tube CTC?

I know the 52 doesn't have a pump peg but the 54 does so its a 52 or smaller. The black 89 we are redoing was supposed to be a 50 but it measures 52. Its just nearly too big for my granddaughter. Its 53 cm from center of the head tube to center of seat tube.
