Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So one thing I used to do, post ride, is get a sense on how I did on a few segments. I am not that competitive, but a little. New Strava means that activity is less satisfying. But I don’t miss it enough to pay $60/year for it.

It’s not going to last, but somehow I clawed my way onto the Addiction podium as of now.

@datlas We have free testing for everyone, symptoms or not, in my city but what's the point? My neighbors tested negative but could be positive next week. It just seems like a waste of resources to test everyone regardless of symptoms or exposure.
Agree. Testing a sample of the population to monitor disease activity is important from a public health perspective. But of minimal or no benefit to the individual. If a medical test does not change how you are treated (like this one) it’s value to YOU is dubious.

I got tested after being exposed at work, took a week to find out, no virus detected. Got an email, an app notice and a phone call, talk about using resources.

It also feels absolutely awesome, doesn't it? That's why I spend so much time in high aerobic and barely enough in base.

I can't even sniff the podium, but then again, I'm only at ~144 miles (couldn't ride yesterday - it was a washout), so that's probably as it should be when among a group of serious cyclists.

I should have ridden just a little bit more! You sneaked a podium spot from me by 5 miles!

Fun ride this morning. The first 50 was super nice with mostly overcast and very shaded roads. The last 20 were a bit tough, it got hot and exposed and I don't think I ate enough, but by that time I was starting to feel a bit nauseous so eating what I had was a no-go.

I also found a wall disguised as a road.

A few pictures:

I barely remember what it feels like to ride a bike. When I become pinless, on Friday(I hope), I'm gonna ask if it's ok. I'll by then have enough grip in the three recently released fingers, and I am hoping that without the pin the vibration won't cause so much pain.

Congrats on the #s whifi.
I shouldn't have covered my coworkers on call today. But he has covered a few of mine , a little good will.
Really looking forward to tomorrow. my legs are only a little sore from yesterday, which is weird. I thought I would be hella sore from spinning 1st gear the last 13 miles. Im hoping it means I'm starting to find some kind of fitness.. I gotta lose this weight and get back in shape. (Sigh) every year same song. I have little discipline.

Thanks for the reminder.

One of three races are on today, at least. They're racing in Charlotte tonight.

No drugs will ever touch that scale.

I guess I could bring it back out to the garage, but then the neighbors might see it

They might start to wonder why I weigh bike parts before bolting them onto heavy bikes.
