If these are SL-BS77, then per Velobase they're dual (friction or index) on right (rear gears) and friction only on left (chain wheels). Perhaps PO might know better what model they are but I believe only 9 speed shimano barcons were SL-BS77.
i have a set of 8 speed Dura Ace (SL-BS50-8) and they're dual as well.
