For 2014 my trainer miles will be just shy of 9% of my 10,000 total miles. 2014 is the first year I have used a trainer. I concentrate on improving my pedal stroke. Anybody tells you "trainer miles don't count" well imo they are just a bit pretentious.

My 4000 or so miles does not include trainer time. It's also not entirely accurate with one ambulance ride included when, for some odd reason, I failed to turn off my Garmin before getting in the ambulance...and several rides where I forgot my Garmin. But the Garmin doesn't add any mileage for stationary riding when I'm at spinning class so no...my mileage is "real". As Fall started up I didn't bother to put my Garmin on my mtn bike and recorded a big tally of 5 miles for November! 500+ in October and 5 in November. Hah!

Very impressive consistency and dedication. Very impressive.

I'll have to check my Garmin logs to see where I am. I think I'm closing in on 5k, but since I didn't really set a goal last year, I don't think it counts.

Tell me about it! I expect to wind up 2,000 (!) miles behind my usual...and that's only if I can squeeze in another 200 before yearend, which the weather does not appear to be interested in allowing for. Stupid year...

Good luck with the end of the year, Bob, 2K down is a real kick in the teeth. The weather patterns are getting stranger by the day, now. We yo-yo between unseasonably warm to really cold, for here on a weekly basis.

congrats on hitting your goal early in the month! I've got about 400 miles to go to reach my goal; I wish I was in your spot, enjoying ticking off the fun bonus miles for the remainder of the year. Here's to a great 2015!

I'm 300 miles short of 8,000 miles but it will be tough to make it. Decembers in Illinois are way too unpredictable.

I didn't set a goal this year but hit 7,000 miles yesterday, zero trainer miles. I hit 50,000 this summer since I started logging my rides about seven years ago, currently 52,400.
Spending the cold months in Austin TX sure helps.
My only goal is to keep riding, I am 70 and have noticed a decline in stamina over the last two years.

Very cool. As Three Dog Night might say, "Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music..."

That is some serious mileage. Quite impressive. It is my intention to keep riding as long my body allows. I am looking forward to being able to ride more after I retire.

That's a lot of mileage, So Cal or not. Its still a lot. Do you get that one question? What saddle do you use?

I use the saddle that came on my Giant Cypress. I have read that my bike might be a problem for really long rides, but since I don't ride longer than 20 miles in 90 minutes, it has not been an issue.

Good job in meeting your goal for the year. It's a good feeling when you achieve something that you once thought you could never reach.

I might actually have gotten 5000 miles had it not been for this bad cold I have now and the one I.came down with 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I wasn't trying but was hoping to break 10,000 miles this year. However, with an extended vacation and a bunch of lousy, rainy days, I don't think I'm going to do it. As of today, my mileage for this year is 9,164 miles. Still have two and a half more weeks left so I should get at least another 500-600 miles before years end.
