Not so much for art, but for collaborating with Brooklyn Cruisers for MoMA.

"The frame, you will notice, is what is called a “step-through.” To many, this looks like what one would consider a girl’s bike. It isn’t. In fact, the step-through frame is better for men"
- who wear dresses!

I think Grant has outdone himself by helping out on this hot little number.

$600 Raleigh Sport, without the panache, or cottered cranks.

I can think of a few members here that would fall for it.

And why is Grant Petersen's name usually misspelled in these threads (as it was in the blog post in the OP's link)? Maybe there's really a Grant Peterson who's stirring up trouble.

That's why I referred to him as "Grant" or "GP" - Got my bases covered.
(PS- Why wouldn't he spell it the normal way? Anyway?)

No forged dropouts, eccentric threading, lamp brackets, etching & stamped logos, gold box lining, metal pulleys & fulcrum stops, ornate cutouts, brass headbages.... yeah I think I'll pass.

Why is it so hard for modern manufacturing to replicate the pinnacle of Raleigh production in the 1950s with some additional modern refinements without cheapening everything to generic crap worthy of Walmart? Even Gazelle's classic line is cutting corners and eliminating the refine little touches which made them special.

An yet, there are people who would pay $600 for a "Brooklyn cruiser".
(Money and taste are not inextricably linked - to say the least!)

Fixed title. I guess most can't tell the Danes (sen) from the Swedes (son).

My point is that with today's technology it should be both easier and cheaper to replicate the quality of the past, rather than spending more money for what is comparatively an inferior product.

As long as it doesn't have a wicker basket, no one is going to whistle at you.
I'm speaking of guys.

According to the brochure it has a front hand break, and a rear pedal brake. Make up your mind.

Ladies' C&V bikes often sell for much less than the equivelant Men's model. As such I find that the Ladies' models are especially good for parting out.

All I got to say is thank heavens GP is involved with bicycles and not, say, secret police or Communist insurrections. He definitely strikes me as the sort of cat who could easily be putting non-believers to the sword.

That just may be the worst design I have ever seen. Pathetic.
Buy a Bobbin, Linus ... hell anything else.
