2018 What are you hoping Santa brings you?
First of all, best wishes to all, no matter what holiday you celebrate!
Condolences to those who’s birthday’s fall within a week of the 25th; it is my observation it seems you get less than if your birthday wasn’t at the end of December.
What are you hoping to get or give that is C & V or bike related this holiday?

My wife's birthday is Dec 24th and mine is the 30th. We both get birthday, Christmas and New Years in a week. As a kid it sucked. Now that I'm old (I'll be 64) it ain't no big deal. Nothing cycling related on my wish list. If I need or want some thing, I go buy it.

Pants (regular ones, not bike stuff) that fit correctly again (lost a bit of weight and I bought the ones in question new three years ago), and leftovers. Food is always a good present, and the cat loves turkey.
Since I am Santa Claus I get what I want myself. Looks like a 1980 Schwinn Cruiser project next month and possibly a 1962 Sears JC Higgins Spaceliner frame in light blue and black, with the light tank and rack and probably a crank and chain added to it, just add wheels.

So my son, only child was born on the 25th and we struggled a little at first, through grade school we had a 1/2 bday in the summer and it was golden. Later when he got to his teens he asked if we could go back to celebrating it on the day and he was good with that.

I bought myself a few pieces to improve next years version of the bob jackson world tourist. Some parts will be here by xmas. It involves a 94/58 bcd sugino crank and 42,29,20 chainrings and chainging my cassette to a 12-28 7 speed. This gives me the same overall gearing with some better options for shifting.
just finished shopping for everyone else. My grandkids get gift certificates to my favorite used book store. My son got a new brooks c17 all weather.
the holidays can be depressing but this year it feels ok.

Maybe a rear blinkie light to replace the couple that have failed or fallen off recently? (I've left hints)
My oldest daughter gives the most thoughtful gifts - she really applies herself to researching. A few years ago, she gave me the book "Major" a biography of Major Taylor. It was a wonderful read about the era of scorchers and the famous athletes that captured America's imagination at the turn of the 20th century.

Good health. As we get older, the good health is more of a crap shoot. It used to be that I rarely missed work. Then I hit my mid fifties, and I have had three different issues in four years that took me out for extended periods. Luckily, all have been recovered from.
More free time for riding would be good too. My wife just bought a new bike, so we will be riding together more. A local shop is changing ownership and was closing out all their current stock. This is her first road bike. She had only ridden heavy, upright hybrid style bikes before. On her first ride, she said "Wow, this thing is really light." As long as we can find her the right saddle, this could be our retirement thing, travelling and riding in scenic places.

more camping gear so I can finally get the TREK 720 out on the road for the touring she was built for. Already have 2 overnight trips planned and shooting for something more extended during the summer.

Been looking at Ritchey Classic saddle and tape, about the best match I can find. Hard to tell online since every photo has a slightly different white balance.
