Some dumb fun for inclement weather and injury downtime:

SRAM Eagle XX-1 around 85 bucks, best price I could find for the Eagle PowerLocks was ~$7.50 a pop, and there would be what? Half the total number of links? Let's call it 60 of 'em.

So if'n ya ain't sponsored, that's in the neighborhood of $550.

Pains me that not all of the links are connected in the same direction.

To do this right, the guy needs to do it with at least four different types of master links and have a regular pattern of swapping link direction. Say SRAM, Wipperman, Shimano, KMC and a pattern of rights and lefts that repeats (and in sync with the number of links so once the chain is assembled, there is no break in the pattern. OCD, OCD, OCD and repeat.

If you are going to spend $550 on a chain, we gotta get the labor hours up to match and have something to show for it.

Well, it simplifies things if you want to use this chain cleaning procedure.

You really can't make a chain entirely of master links as they are only the "outside" (female) part of a link. The inner parts (male) would have to be sourced from a regular chain.

You guys clearly have way too much time on your hands. I understand. I really do. Between covid and generalized craziness, a certain level of cabin fever is understandable. But why not fill the time with something more productive. Like pop-top macrame.

Actually the inner ("male") quick links are called madam links and only available to team mechanics

Totally agree. This video popped up on my YouTube feed and I just ignored it. Total waste of time and an insult to the intelligence of Seth's viewers.

Yeah, I'd rather fill my 32 ounce squeeze bottle of ketchup with free packs from restaurants! lol

I should try that with mine, I never use them, and I think I have enough for a whole chain.

Almost as silly as the all half-link chains.
