Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I posted this one on the commuter page as well, but here's my gravel/cross as a before picture: { The funniest hidden element of this picture is that I took it after an hour trail ride on a 22 degree sunny day, I invested in some new gloves and shoe covers after this shot. }

I'm awaiting USPS deliver of my new brake levers, saddle and bar tape to go with the parts that are patiently awaiting their installation (Ritchey Venturemax bars, SRAM Bar end shifters, Avid BB5 disc brakes). This bike takes me everywhere, and I find myself never taking the mountain bike or road bike out of the house anymore. The frame is a Nashbar special (unbranded) with one of their carbon forks. Currently full SRAM X0 derailleurs and shifters. The bar plugs are courtesy of some good local Rye (Catoctin Creek Distillery) and they go nicely with the flask holder.

Very nice ride! looking at something very similiar, but with the new Enve G25 Foundation Wheels. - 2 questions, what size rings - rear cassette? I am looking at Absolute Black 48-32 w11-34. Also trying to decide between the Enve Gravel Bars vs the SES AR... (less flair). Any thing you would do differently?

My Trek Checkpoint SL 7.5

It started off as the SL 5. I upgraded the drivetrain to SRAM Force eTap AXS w/ a powermeter, the Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3 wheels, the Aeolus Pro saddle, and a set of Rene Herse Barlow Pass tires. It's the forever bike for sure.

I figured I had to finish this up; it was intended to be a winter bike.

Made in USA with True Temper OX, this piggish Trek now has a bunch of lipstick applied. Built with Sora shifters, Deore crank, XT cogs and derailleurs, and TRP mini Vs. Its a nice daily rider; has a decent steel ride and rolls well. I was a bit worried about the 70mm stem but its not an issue.

I used bikegeocalc.com to match the position to my Ritchey Swiss Cross, so this should be a nice cheap stand-in.

I want to see if some fenders will fit in there now.

Thanks!
They are 700X38 with plenty of room for fenders. The Checkpoint has room for fenders up to 700X45. You can fit 700X52 in the frame, but you get some toe overlap and it starts to get tight. I'd only be comfortable going 700X50/ 29X2.0.

What's funny about that Avenir bag ( in flamingo pink ) is that I bought it in 1994 and cannot bring myself to part with it. The top has some magic marker decoration, and I still think about dying it a different color, but it's so ugly that I decided to just go with it. I bought it while working at White's Bikes in Westminster, MD only because it was on clearance making it INSANELY cheap ( can you believe noone wanted to buy it ? )

Thank you both, its a nice bike and I'm digging it so far.

I guess I'm not used to a touring based framed, as I find the rear a bit harsh, even compared to my Tange 2 road bike with 28mm tires. Riding seated transmitted more bumps than I ever remember. The weight is 23lbs 15oz with pedals so its acceptable so its not too piggish.

Perhaps "pig" was a bit harsh.
