Just completed 3000 Km’s for 2020 first year riding bought my bike in May. After a hip replacement (no more marathons) recommendation from my surgeon to not run. I am absolutely loving riding 60/40 groomed rail trail and road. Have been riding solo and am so looking forward in the near future to ride with a group. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2021. I have two local cycling friends that have topped 27,000 miles each for the year with 300+ activate riding days. I don’t ride as much as they do but when I do it’s about 50-60 miles per ride. Plus I walk 5-6 miles per day M-F playing golf. This time of year I enjoy 3 hour gravel rides.

I find it interesting that I’m riding less since I retired, and for sure I thought it would have been the opposite. I guess it’s because I now play golf so much. I enjoy a good balance of doing both. Maybe I could look at skipping playing golf a day or two and go ride. I’ve ridden the same days as I’ve played but it just takes some motivation to get dressed and back out the door.

I used to do about 10,000 miles a year. About 1/2 of that in my commute, and the other half on pleasure rides.

This year? Hard to say (I’m not crazy about keeping track) but I’d estimate maybe 2000-3000. Zero commuting and much fewer pleasure miles.

Yea ... it’s been a crappy year.

It's always "I didn't ride enough this year"....either on my bikes or VROD.

Well I'm still working full time so can only get rides in, early morning, early evening or weekends and had the best year cycling ever, thanks to COVID 19 by not having to waste 2-3 hours a day commuting and having nothing better to do. That being said, I thought my numbers were pretty good until I read this post! ha ha

According to Strava, 170 hours, 3813 KMs' and I'll put a few more on before the end of the year.

As of today 6177 miles, 414,718 feet of ascent. A little more than half of my miles are trainer/Zwift. My outside rides are mainly in the hills. I will probably ride another 200 miles this year, all trainer.

This being my first real year riding I now have a better sense of what I want to accomplish and what I enjoy. It is tempting for me to say I'm going to ride more miles in 2021 but as I ponder my goals it might be more in line with fewer miles but more intensity. Still, I'm thrilled at what I have accomplished this year.

I only estimate my road mileage, at least 5K miles but also lots of days on the mtb. Around 13 to 15 hours per week all total. Lots of climbing, at least 300,000 feet.

I rode about 150 miles in 2019 after not riding for over fifty years. I started riding in may, got sick in July and didn’t ride again until this March. I had trouble riding even five miles so got an ebike (Vado SL) in May.

Since then I’ve ridden 1425 miles and 47,000 of climbing. Not bad for an old beginner.

Since changing jobs a couple of years ago, with longer hours and a longer commute I've struggled to break 2000 miles a year. Working from home most of this year has freed up some ex-commuting time. I'm right at 2400 miles for the year.

My norm in recent years has been in the 4,000 to 5,000 miles range.
2019 was first year of retirement - 5,000+ miles.
2020 has been first (!!) year of Covid - 4,100 miles as of today. About 300 days of riding, which is about 50 more days than my norm. Many 10 - 20 mile rides. Have ridden often with spouse. Very few rides longer than 35-40 miles, related to only 3 club/organized rides since start of covid stay-at-home orders. (Cycling allowed.)

I'm 100 miles shy of 5,000 miles. That is double my mileage from 2019. My 2019 miles were double my 2018 miles, which was when I started riding regular again. I don't think the trend will continue. Turning 60 next month and planning 6,000 miles for 2021.

I also am about 100 miles short of 5,000 miles for the year. That's my biggest mileage year ever. I started the year retired but when covid hit and the uncertainty with the economy in the mix, I thought I should get re-engaged with work if something came up. I ended up getting a position in mid-October. With several weeks of mild weather in late October and into November, I would have easily put in the extra miles to make it to 5,000. With 5 days left, short and colder days, and back to work, not sure if I'll quite make it. But, at 67 years old, I'm pleased to have had my best mileage year ever.

I had a good year, only got to day ride from home and back. Best ride was 133.66 miles with my SA XL-RD5w, a double my age ride.
Rainy June and cold Oct. I did get a bonus 40 miles in Dec. on 3 rides out to A+W. Last year I went for a 2 month car drive with my CCM.

954 miles >> Tour bike with Rohloff14, at 72 to 80 lbs.
1,764 miles > Same bike with SA XL-RD5w.
829 miles >> 1973 CCM with new 650B wheels, SA X-RD3, at 42 lbs + load.

Did a 40 mile ride today, now 150 miles short of 8000 for 2020. My previous high mile total was 6000 in 2017. I just looked at the extended forecast and it is looking pretty good for the last 4 days of 2020. My goal for 2020, a leap year, was 7320 miles, an average of 20 miles for everyday.
