Hey francophiles! Talk to me about a Urago

https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/5531444966.html

So I stumbled across this ad. Now I've never really had much interest in French bicycles but the unusual nature and color of this thing caught my eye. The Sheldon guide basically says the value of this is likely in the components. The pictures aren't great, but if I'd love it if any of you could give me a rough idea if I should bother pursuing this thing. Doubt I would offer $500, since it would be a novelty buy anyway, but if it appears to utter trash I will move on.

That is a low end boom era bike hi-ten frame with a lot of cheaper steel components, cottered no name crank, cheese grader wheels. This bike is really only worth about $150 if everything is in good riding order as presented likely needing work I would say pass.

+1

Yes indeed. Way overvalued by seller. For $75 it might merit exploration for someone looking for a resto project.

Methinks there is an extra zero in the asking price

It doesn't look quality, but it's got pointy lugs and a fun color. Not utter junk. A Betty not a Veronica...

...but what the hell is up with that inner chain ring?

I didn't even notice the inner chain ring looks to be missing several bolts and spacers.

Maybe someone should buy it to get that set of gold Benotto tape. Did we not have a thread last week about folks looking for this colour?

Three of them are still attached but the other three don't line up. WTH

And that's the ring the chain is on.

I noticed the missing bolts myself. I'll pass. Too much of a project for me at this point to be worth trying to talk the seller down to a realistic price point.

Thanks folks.

These look to be a much nicer bikes for a lot less money fairly nice basic touring bike with triple and fairly good components ch-mo frame.
https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/5526662767.html

If you want french this ones a bit rough and size may be a bit large but a very nice bike worth fixing up.

You should be a able to find a really nice vintage steel project bike in the Denver area for $150-200 or something really nice ready to ride for $400-500 pretty easy.

That Peugeot is an exceptional deal and an excellent riding bike.

I'd be all over that Pug; that's a very solid deal.

Univega & Peugeot are noticeably larger than the Urago. All three cannot be the right size for the poster. Great bargain not of much cycling use if it is a poor fit. Rice, do you know your ideal frame size?

Oh, man, I wish that Univega was available here. That's exactly the sorta bike I've been poring over craigslist for, and at the right price. I'd grab that pronto.
