Heal up, man.

On this side of the ocean, some idiot decided to ride with the A group for 100 miles - even when he was still fighting a nasty cold. This idiot cracked on the ride home and had to soft pedal slower than a snail in glue. He was getting chills and his body felt like he was tossed into a Hells Angel's rally with a sign taped to his back saying, "Narc."

But his beautiful wife made him a delicious turkey wrap for his trouble.

Lowsided on a slush covered wooden bridge. Fortunately the damage seems to be limited to bruises to the ego, hip, and knee, and maybe some training plan tweaking.

I met grumpy on my ride today. No, not our beloved Grumpy, just a grumpy guy. I was slowly catching him. As I pass, I give my normal quick "Hi There". He says "I don't know you" .... huh ?
I keep riding. He slowly passes me a minute later. I'm on his wheel, only because he wasn't going fast enough to pull away.
I notice he has PowerCranks.
Me: "How do you like Powercranks ?"
Him: "Please don't draft me." Then he pulls over and drops back.
Fine ... I just keep riding. He passes me slowly again, so I back off and stay 5 lengths back. I'm glad my turnoff came after another mile to be away from the guy, otherwise I would have had to start messing with him.

Was it cold out? The sick idiot on this side of the country had sense enough to go with the 'b' group for about 65 miles. You can tell it's a b ride when I am near the front on climbs. It warmed up nice today, which helped.

Turns out the group that went into the mountains didn't have too much wind but did get buzzed by an a-hole driver who rolled his Mustang in the next turn. They said he was ok but they split before he started blaming them for his crash.

Started about 34F then warmed up to 60F. Felt good out later but I wasn't enjoying it at all.
I actually feel better this morning than I have in the past two weeks.

I have a full size frame pump .... I'm sure I could have taken him.

I seem to have lent out both floor pumps inadvertently. I have to go buy one tomorrow.

Trim almost done in the 3rd bedroom. This has dragged on longer than expected. Hopefully I'll finish tonight (taking a break right now, have very little left to do) and paint the trim tomorrow.

Paint the trim first and then touch up after installation. WAY easier, but too late now.

Whiskey on the balcony in paradise Island overlooking the Ocean. There are some upsides to bike racing.

I knew that some of my Cat 3 teammates had jumped ship, but it took looking at the photos of the first race of the season to see the extent of the exodus.

Good morning everyone.

Well it is rare that I go outside of my circle of personal friends (I guess you guys are now part of that group ) for advice but here is one that I need some direction on for an incident from the weekend.

My wife and I went to a bar/concert with some friends on Saturday, the husband is a college of mine at the office (same management band) and we have been friends for a couple of years. About two years ago we introduced our wives to each other and they became friends from there.

To set the stage on what I have seen, first off my wife is a very confident, intelligent beautiful woman (think Halle Barry) who people are naturally drawn to (much like rkwaki ). My wife is also very well built (low bodyfat, big cans) and works insanely hard in the gym to be like that.

My friend's wife is also very beautiful but to me appears to lack a lot of self confidence and does not just jump into a crowd to make friends. She is very much "look at me, look at me"

There have always been issues between these two so I have come to learn and in my opinion there is a lot of jealousy on the part of my friend's wife. Just another little piece of info, my wife has a hard time keeping lady friends due to their insecurities and often their husbands create that by talking about my wife (what she looks like, etc). Lets call her Sally.

So anyways you get the picture.

Well Saturday night we meet them at this bar and they were with some of their friends that we have never met (it was the other friends that invited our friends who in turn invited us) and within the first 5 minutes I can feel the tension not only between my wife and her friend but also between her and her husband as well. It seems that the friends that arranged everything are all part of a moms group that my friend's wife is a member of. Anyways these women gravitate towards my wife and with 20 minutes are making plans to get together sometime in the near future.
As the night goes on Sally grows increasingly distant from everyone and the four of us end up in the back of the bar away from the rest of the group. We then come to find out that Sally didn't like the band and her drink wasn't any good, and dinner took to long to get, etc. My wife had spoken about how warm the bar was and Sally say very sarcastically well why don't you just take off your sweater. They were also having a conversation about my wife's recent weight gain (8 pounds) and the fact that she only had 4 of her six pack to which Sally responded "Oh poor you".
Sally and her husband then suggest we go back to their place for a drink and to shoot the breeze. At this point I should have said no as it did not feel right but we went anyways.

Right from the start the conversation between Sally and my wife is off and not 'nice' the way friends should be as Sally was speaking very demeaning and sarcastic and I could feel it slipping away. The conversation transitioned to diet, training etc. and body image blah blah blah. My wife is telling Sally what she feels would help her achieve her goals, etc.

Then comes the bombshell, without repeating the conversation Sally tells my wife without saying it that she is fat (remember my wife is around 15% bodyfat right now which in a mans world is like 6%). I'm like oh ***** here we go. I tried to change the subject quickly but it is too late, my wife says "Oh really?" then proceeds to let Sally know of her issues and there we are out the door about 10 minutes later.

Now my wife has never been so offended in her entire life as she has never had a friend take a personal shot at her like that and has very clearly said that they will never talk again BUT the issue is I work with her husband and really don't have much of an issue with.

Now what? I would rather just not get into it with him regarding the wive's issues but feel I have to come to my wife's defense.

Any opinions?

My advice? Let the cats handle it. Women can insult the bejeesus out of each other and be best friends a day later.

Socializing with coworkers is risky at any level.

We're going to need pictures of your wife to know whether or not Sally was right.

If the guy was one of my good friends, I would let him know that his wife was being terrible and try to resolve the issue. If it's just a coworker you occasionally hang out with, I'd ignore it and just not let the women get together again.

Just writing it made me feel better - and gave me some direction.

I actually suggested they have a tickle fight in their panties but that did not go over well.

I'm not sure I have ever seen my wife this pissed at someone (you would have had to hear the conversation to see why).

I did put a picture on one forum once and my wife was pissed, when I had my facebook account open some of you jokers were my friends I believe.

When I was married we lived in the mountains and I met a guy riding up there and we became friends. Our wives eventually became friends, too, but situations like you described did occur and my wife was bitter for a while. Somehow they resolved their petty crap and went back to being pals, even getting drunk and making out in a taxi one night.
Like they say, *****es be crazy.

Feel better this morning. A lot better, finally. I was actually able to push it a bit on the trainer.
I watched Casino Royale while training and actually liked this Bond.

Cat 4 upgrade: Denied. Damnit. Apparently they're a bit stricter this year with upgrades. Everyone I've talked to said they did anywhere from three to six races before they put in a successful upgrade request. At least the next four races are 4/5 field anyway.
