Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My local shop is hiring and they just bought a third Trek store.

Not my place to ask, I am sure there is more to the story but from what I gathered, it sounds like that trek is trying to cut salaried positions.

Got my 2015 Propel off of the trainer for a few miles, today. I wanted to take a pic of it and my wife wanted to sit in the big chair so I got a pic of both.

Not much future in those types of jobs, so maybe it’s a good opportunity to move his talents to a more lucrative career path.

I listened to a podcast about this last night. The problem with that traditional system, so of course, is that an "accurate" reading every few months (and obviously a nurse testing your BP right after you walk into the exam room isn’t cold very representative) isn't that great.
My iPhone apparently only picks up steps. It flat refused to record a single pedal stroke, so I turned that ‘feature’ off

Late start ride was fine. It was still pretty chilly at the start, but at least above freezing. We had 5 riders and we were all about evenly matched with everyone taking an equal share at the front.

I think they over-extended themselves in some markets. There were not one but TWO Trek stores nearby, about 8 miles apart. They consolidated into one shop about midway between the two locations. I think that makes sense although if some folks got axed that sucks for them.

I def think Trek put too many eggs in the trek travel. I believe that the amount of people that can afford and have the time to take part in those is pretty limited.

We have one in Saratoga that used to be a shop that sold Cervelo, Pinarello, Spesh and some others. Owner sold to Trek a few years ago.

All of the other Trek shops are independent.

We've looked at those trips. They are really expensive. Plus, we don’t want to spend every day of a vacation on a bike.

Had time to work out today, and the hotel gym had a peloton so I was pretty stoked. Got on it and about 3 miles in my left knee starting hurting, and I looked at my legs as I pedals and my legs were not getting the extension. Checked the seat post and it had slipped about 2 inches. Fixed it got back on and made it about 4 more miles before the pain started again. Sure enough it slipped again. The screw that holds the post in place was stripped. I readjusted again but gave in after a total of 10 miles.

I would love to do it, but that’s the problem, they are too expensive.

My wife and I have looked several times at Trek Travel and the value just isn't there. We've traveled quite a bit and I just can't justify their prices. My wife and I like to be pampered and go in style but even then, they're a pretty big nope.

Did a little loop on the mtb. 2000 feet of climbing in the first 5 miles, then a bunch of ruts, rocks, and sand. Descending next to a steep slope a bird flew up and slammed into my shoulder. Don't think that ever happened before. Hope he was ok.

On Tuesday we rode by a Trek store which is now closed. Was an independent store for as long as I can remember until Trek absorbed it recently. There is another one a few miles up the road.

After decades of being around cars I really enjoy riding in the dirt or anywhere cars can't go. I'm still doing at least 2 group road rides per week but when I'm solo the mountain bike is fun just cruising around the neighborhood.

Plus, it keeps miles off the road bike.
