Yeah, that pic is pretty useless.. as would be anything anybody on here said about the chip. Have your shop check it out.

use macro, aka the flower button for close up shots.
and since it's a reflective surface, also give the bike a background like a rag or sheet of paper so the camera can focus better.

Macro lens, stopped down (f/11 or more), available light (to avoid flash glare) which is going to require a long exposure and a tripod... carbon tripods are great...

Or if you have a speedlight, just bounce the flash.

ok, I"ll chime in. paint it with some clear nailpolish. That's not a place I'd worry about a failure, and it's fine. That's if the chip is where I think it is.

Is the chip at the end of the last "t" in Scott at the top of the headtube? If so, I think it's just a nick in the clear coat...

Like others said from your pic it looks to be just a paint chip. Just take it to your LBS for the piece of mind.

I'd like to know.... how does one get a chip in that location? Did you drop something onto it?

It also seems like just a paint chip to me. In terms of touching it up (perhaps after having your bike shop look at it), I think I might buy one of those little 1 or two ounce bottles of paint for plastic models (Testor's) - to get a nice gloss black that would be pretty durable. Although perhaps black nail polish is almost the same thing...
Nice bike, BTW!

Actually, don't use nail polish. Get some epoxy resin (we call it Araldite here in Australia) in the small twin tubes, mix up a tiny batch and apply it to the chip with a toothpick or match. Epoxy is what is used to lay up the carbon fibre. Nail polish does deteriorate in sunlight, and it won't build up to the surround surface. FWIW, it does appear to be just a chip in the expoxy moulding and hasn't penetrated to the carbon.

As Rowan said... go to a hardware store, pickup 5 min epoxy. Fill in the area with a paint brush. It is just through the paint, and a small nick out of the topmost layer. Carbon Fiber has an upper or outer layer that is "sacrificial" meaning it serves no structural purpose other than to absorb damage.

I agree with the nail polish crowd. epoxy will maybe look nice but you may have to worry about it reacting to the compounds already in your frame. just sand it a bit to remove sharp edges and put some nailpolish on it.
also the chip is likely just in the paint and or top layer of resin. odds of actual structrual damage are very minor.
