Many BD bikes are older fujis (frame wise)...so they may be the same. I have a roubaix pro and it has been good to me. I also would prefer the compact of the fuji over the triple. but the main componets on the BD bike are one step up across the board.

fuji is the "better" brand to the general biking public

I bought a Mercier Orion about 2 years ago and it was a great bike. I did upgrade and sell the Orion at almost no real loss of cash. The Orion is not as good as the Mercier you are looking at one step up for sure. Other than the triple, which I did not need I think it is a better bike. If I were you I would go with a Bottecchia for the same money in a compact crank. Do an E bay search they have some really decent bikes if you can manage some set up yourself.
