Aluminum fixie recomendations ?

Aluminum fixie recomendations ?
Let me start out by saying - I am not a good enough rider to know the difference between aluminum and steel. And,
I am a good enough mechanic to take everything apart and clean and lube everything before riding it. We used to that in India to everything matter of fact.
So, I am leaning pretty hard toward a cheapo aluminum fixie (the dreaded W store brand or the T store brand kind) so I can practice my repair skill. Aluminum - so I can polish it, it will be for looks as well as for riding.
Any recommendations ? Is all the W and T store brands bad ?

The new 721 looks really good, and I really like that they changed the Cure, that bowed top tube looked too cruiser-ish. Has much more of a pursuit geo now.
Looks like good things coming from Leader this year. Normal seat clamps on those pictured, as well. They emailed me the entire Look book/spec sheets and full photosets of the new 721 and the Cure, I can pass them along if anyone's interested.

Yeah, I'm really pleased with mine. It's rather heavy, but alignment, welds and paint are very good. I'd put it in the same league as my Dolan Pre Cursa, except for the lower grade aluminum.

I agree with the cure's top tube for once. Still indifferent with pursuit geo though.

I'm half considering dumping my 725 frame for one of those new 721s when they come out, but that Cure looks cool, too...

I'd do that. The 721's a keeper for the long run with no goofy seatbinder to ruin the entire shabang over time.

But just to be on the safe side, I made a little shim out of an aluminum can to go between the tube and the clamp, hasn't budged a fraction of a millimeter since I set it.

A company who makes good frames doesn't suffer from "bad designs" to begin with.
It seems that every version of Leader's 7-series frames (aside from the 721, which has always been ok) have been re-designed to overcome a problem with the previous version.

The documented issues with Bianchi's integrated seatpost binder wasn't necessarily due to a design flaw.
The main flaw was that most people are heavy-handed when tightening every bolt on their bike and as a result, the threads would become stripped. Once they replaced it with the collar design on the right, that was it. No need to redesign the damn thing ad nauseam.
