Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It’s hot in the house. I just got home. The only cool spot is the basement so Jackie and I are relaxing here.

There is some incredible riding around there. At one time, I tried to talk my wife in to moving to Georgetown, KY.

Too bad there is no podium for resting HR. I had not worn my Apple Watch for awhile but put it on recently. If I rest and relax I have no problem getting it down in the 40’s. Lowest just now was 44.

i went for a walk, and people drive crazy here. I’m sure there are some good back roads to ride but from what I have seen, I would be worried about getting hit by a car. This is my second day here and I havnt seen one cyclist in the area that I am.

Slacker. I'm still getting warnings from my watch in the middle of the night every time I stay below 40 bpm for over 10 minutes at a stretch - sometimes 4-5x per night.

Tremendous backroads for riding. Small lanes and rolling.

I can't believe that you guys made me go to the shop and pull this off the peg board. It's a little-used Lapize with the red "pull" end. You can tell a "serious" cyclist used it because of the twist in the bottom of the strap. Lapize was a lower quality but an old traditional company.

BTW, I'm trying to eschew my C&V status but you guys keep exposing it.

Extra kudos for the twist. That’s pro!

I do admit my pulse is currently in the low 50s because I rode 46 miles today. Had to sneak that in.

Huge turnout for tonight’s memorial ride, despite the heat index. Hundreds of people, and a police escort for the open road portion.
