Strange how things work out. I wanted to move to a smaller house with a larger garage. So I would have more shop space for the cars. Now with this new administrations politics, I might not have anything to work on to need the shop space for. The prediction for $5.00 a gallon is just to much for me. And premium is even higher. Time to cash in my chips and walk away from the table.

Speaking of houses, the cabin mrs datlas and I rented for our mini-vacation was a modest 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house that I estimate has about 800 square feet.
We decided that if/when we downsize, something about this size would be plenty for our needs as long as there is a garage/shed/basement for storage.

That's the one I have not seen in the flesh - a Bugatti. I'm certain there must be some around here.
Ferraris, Lambos, Maseratis are pretty common hereabouts, so I tend to get more of a kick out of seeing things like the Citroen 2CV I saw a couple weeks back. There's somebody with a Mini Cooper - the original version, the really small kind, with fog lights and all - that parks where the cyclists all park, I've seen that car a bit, so I suspect it's another cyclist. I can't imagine how you put a bike in one, but then, they're like the Tardis on Dr. Who - bigger on the inside.
Ferraris, Lambos, Maseratis are pretty common hereabouts, so I tend to get more of a kick out of seeing things like the Citroen 2CV I saw a couple weeks back. I did shoot this 356 for a photo contest (which ended up being cancelled). The first was going to be my entry. The car was really nice, and the guy drove it all the time. The front was full of rock chips. It was no garage queen! We were about three blocks from his house.

I was at my Toyota dealer today for a checkup and got to see the new Supra in person. It's hot! Very handsome.

When Mrs. GeneJockey and I had just gotten married, we lived in a flat in The Richmond*, two blocks from Golden Gate Park. Every May we'd wander down to the Park and watch a few minutes of the Bay To Breakers run/jog/walk/stroll by.
One guy who passed was wearing a suit. His birthday suit. It didn't register at first. His hair - all of it, everywhere - had sun-bleached to the same color his skin - all of it, everywhere - had tanned to. This was maybe half a mile or so from the finish at Ocean Beach, so he'd already run probably 7 miles that way. Personally, I wouldn't want to run that far without some kind of support, you know?
*For those who don't know the geography of San Francisco, The Richmond is basically the upper left hand corner of San Francisco, North of the Park.

Precisely. I wanted a Challenger with a Hemi from the time they were introduced, when I was 12. Now I have one that gets a lot better than 6 mpg, and that had a longer warranty than the 90 days you got with the original one!

Probably not as much as I did. I was at a Buick dealer when they came out in the Roadmaster, then a Chevy store, then Buick/Pontiac, then Chevy again where they were in Caprice/Impala SS, Camaros and Vettes. The worst was the Camaro for access. Service writers would sell plugs and wires for 2 hours, I wanted 4 or 5.

I've been watching vintage bicycle restoration videos on YouTube. One of them, a nice 80s Colnago Super, got topped off with a San Marco Regal saddle. I thought, "I have one of those! Maybe I'll put that on the Cannondale!" It was black, with Titanium rails and rivets. Nice vintage look, and even if I found the Avocet O2Air 40R more comfortable, I did put in a lot of happy miles on it.
But an hour of fruitless searching later, no dice. I sure hope I didn't do something stupid like throw it away! It was a $70 saddle in 1997 when I bought it!!

Last time we were in your area, we went to Stinson Beach. It was September, and it was cold enough that the wife and I were wearing coats. As we walked down the beach toward the south end, just before we got to the big rocks, some guy went running out from behind one about 20' in front of us, and jumped in the ocean. No swim suit, just a birthday suit. I'm sure (but didn't stick around to find out) that he was shriveled like a raisin getting out of that cold water.

The guy that owned the R8 in the video that I posted has owned a lot of very exotic cars. His hobby is drag racing in sanctioned events, so he is big into cars. Every time I go to his shop, he has a garage full of Lambos, muscle cars, hot rods, etc. He had a Ferrari LaFerrari with less than 100 miles that he bought to flip and a Ford GT that he bought to flip as well. He wouldn't even let me sit in them, much less drive them, so there would not be any wear on the seats.

I had mine for a year, 3 optisparks later, I swapped it. Sold it to a guy that needed it for his fire bird. I actually installed it for him. Used the money to buy the car I got my drive train from. Ended up I made $100.00 on the deal after I sold off all the extra bits.
