Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow - they're that old? My old H+Sons were anodized and they wore silver within a couple months of trying to slow my (m)ass, though this was also in the wet and gritty spring. But yeah, if the brake tracks aren't going to silver any time soon, the gumwalls might be a nice visual break; that's one of the reasons that I want some for the Zipps.

That was not in the video, but if Ritchey doesn’t have covers I am sure one could make some.

They have Trek rims and RX100 A551 hubs, which suggests to me they were OEM wheels on somebody's mid-90s Trek. 8speed RX100 came out in 1994 or so, and RX100 didn't last past 1999, so they're somewhere between 21 and 27 years old. I suppose someone might have built up these wheels later, but then they STILL would have to have ridden them almost not at all. Or maybe they lived where there are no hills or stop signs.

Careful that you don't lose a pawl. We had a triathlete come into the shop, in a panic the day before his big race, because he lost his pawls during transport.

Our ISP just raised our monthly rate by $10. I got online to ask about that, they said that our agreement ended and the price went up. I asked if they could reinstate the old price.

Good news: they said I qualify for a HIGHER speed (200 vs 75 currently) at the OLD price.
Bad news: there is a $150 "install fee" they say I have to pay. And they would not waive that fee.

Holy bait and switch! Hmm. Tough choice. I will let mrs datlas decide.

We have cox, and rarely have problems with it, but all of our neighbors are constantly complaining about it. Not sure what causes it to get so slow all the time

wut

What do they have to install? Do they need to run a new line to the house for some reason? Otherwise, that's a BS fee.

Cable will slow down when a bunch of people in the area are online at the same time. Maybe you and the wife don't use it during peak times like the others do? In Brooklyn, my internet choked between 5-9pm or so.

I don’t really watch tv all that much. And I don’t own a computer, and my xbox hasn’t been turned on in two years. Might be why I havnt noticed.

They said they do need to send a technician out. Sounds bogus to me but the whole thing is a black box.

Well that sucked. Had to do a master reset on my phone yesterday. Don't know why but it is absolutely eating the battery. Now everything is different. I hate it. However it's not doubling my punctuation like it used to before, so I have that going for me.....
I painted about .5 the basement yesterday. Hopefully I can get it all finished tonight. Then I can use the weekend to fix the ceiling. Or. Maybe do a little zwifying?.....

They have to have someone check a different box in their subscription software.

So, the guy I pipped at the line in my first Zwift race? He was also in the race I did on Wednesday. He won by 10 seconds - good on him! I was shadowing him till he put in a big effort I couldn't match, then he just stayed 8-10 seconds ahead the rest of the race.

Yesterday, I signed up for the same race this afternoon as I rode last week. This morning I looked, and so did he. This time, I'm not going to wear myself out on the warmup. Also not going to let him get away......

That 2.8 series Cannondale is still taunting me, for $65 less than his lowest offer to me. But like I said, any addition to the collection has to make sense. This is just something I wanted back in 1996. And if I blow money on it, and the perfect 58 cm bike with Shimano Sante pops up, I won't be able to buy it.

Or I could just ride what I have and stop obsessing over bikes I don't.

I think you will be fine. Use a torque wrench when installing.
