Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gios Aerolite 105

I'm surprised by how little information I can find on this bike:

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-road-bike/ci...6349?undefined

Can anyone speak to the frame quality and value?

Cheers

Gios was one of the sponsors of the team I used to ride with, and I still have my team-issue Compact Pro. Gios is a rather odd brand among the usual makers, they don't have the same "vibe" as Masi, De Rosa, Colnago, etc, they came to fame by being the bike used by "Mr Paris-Roubaix" Roger De Vlaeminck. But Gios makes very good bikes which have sharp handling, and are durable enough for competition. I am not sure where the Aerolite is made, it seems that many Italian bikes and frames are no longer made in Italy, which is a shame. A sadder thing is that many of the Italian bikes you see on the road today share the same frame, which is produced in China or Taiwan, and simply marked with whatever decal and paint scheme the brand wants affixed. You can still get an Italian-made Compact Pro today, which, though heavier than the Aerolite, is more durable, and while not currently fashionable, will be more fashionable than the Aerolite as time goes by. A Compact Pro costs about the same amount of money.
