Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rain all day and a swim meet to officiate do not make a good mix for getting a ride in.

Hoo boy, had a little scare this morning.

Woke up and my bike shed door was open. Seems when I was out there last, I locked the door but didn't have it latched properly. I've been riding the trainer all week so that had to be Monday. The bike shed was open all week and nothing stolen.

Perhaps I should play the lottery, it seems I've been fairly lucky.

Yes, very scary !!!

One winter night my daughter came home late after I was asleep, and left the house door open all night.

Brr! I've managed to leave the house door unlocked before, but not for very long.

And Halloween Night!!! We didn't get candy yesterday and I'm not about to go get any today, so I'd better make sure the porch light stays off.

Another day of no riding for me, since I'm up at the north outpost and I didn't bring a bike with me. There is cable TV here, though!

Thanks for the spoiler!

Anyway, November 1 here already. Start of the new randonneuring/Audax Australia season here and there is a ride today. Only 100km, and we covered much of the course a fortnight ago. It was mighty windy then, but it's a beautiful bright, sunny, calm day today.

I don't recall Halloween and the NYC marathon occurring on the same weekend ever before . . . or the time change and Halloween together before.

Freaky.
