Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like the old wheels better. The deep dish aero wheels look really weird on a lot of bikes. It makes your frame look tiny in particular.
With the old wheels and trimming those cables around the stem area, I'd hotify it.

Not digging the red cages... black would be better. But if you're happy, then that's all that counts.

The cables are killing the looks.

This looks cleaner.

I love that frame, but you definitely have a bad case of flip it.
I started this thread from its first page.
No Italian bike/frame has been seen.
All pictured bikes look like dupes.
Even more, as they are all in dark color.

YOUR Listing of the 3 above names --- got me to set a tombstone to where I stopped scrolling.
And began commenting.

Yeah I know. I don't have a nice pair of black cages that go with the bike. I have a set of black and white elite cages but I think solid colors do better.

I also looked at the cables and but I'll get them shortened.. someday.

On the contrary! I read all the feedback and agree with a lot of it, especially the billboard-y look of the bike. Just got the wheels last week - first carbons I've tried. Not a big fan of the graphics either, but I do prefer SOME visual interest on the side of deep rims. Undecided on whether to keep or remove.

Yes, bar is a 3T Aeronova. As mentioned, long reach, but great ergonomics if you prefer that longer reach and a flat top.

My bikes always seem to be works in progress, so the picture is just its current configuration. Just ordered a new crankset.

EDIT: And thank you everyone for the feedback! I'm back cycling after a long time off - feels like reuniting with an old friend. Why did I ever stop riding?

Agree it needs some sleek stainless bottle cages, and the bar tape needs to be yellow or maybe a light blue.

You're not the only one. I hate it. Narrow tubed frames with level/near level top tubes and minimal decals, and non-deep dish wheels are pure sex.

Yes, yes, and yes. I have a bike that rides very nicely and is a great commute bike, but I wish it didn't have those big letters on the down tube. A lot of current steel bikes with the thinner tubing and understated logos are more my speed. Or as @thesciguy put it, "pure sex".

One reason for a commuter I went with the Nashbar Steel CX bike..

Thanks. After switching over to midfoot cleat position (moved the cleats back 50 mm or so) and moving my body more forward as a result, I couldn't get my saddle forward enough. The reason it looks weird right now may have something to do with the fact that I pushed it as far forward as possible and then lowered the nose for a little extra forward feel. I'm thinking of getting a Thomson Elite seatpost with no setback for extra forward adjustability. Do you think that will also help with the looks as well?

Yeah, the bar tape did get very dirty after a while but I think I need to stick with white for the right color scheme. I'm thinking of a white Lizard Skin handlebar tape and hopefully, they don't get as dirty as quickly.

Very common on TT bike and since it's a "Aero" bike, it's not a surprise. I thought of going with a Zipp 404/303 but went with 303 on both.

I normally add Dobbins and Buena Vista when I do South Mountain so it didn't record a time and I just finished building the bike and wasn't hiring it hard. My best on the "South Mountain TT" segment on Strava is 23.33, that was from a few weeks ago. What's yours?

Im assuming your in the Pheonix area?

my best time is 23:08 in competition, but my best Strava time is 25:11. I doubt I could repeat the competition time, but 25ish is usually a good time for me. It's nothing great, but nothing to be ashamed of either.

It's not easy to train for Hillclimb TTs when you ride NW Phoenix.
