first bike suggestions
Anyone have any suggestions for a first road bike brand?
Not sure if I should go with trek, giant, diamondback, cannondale, or something else altogether.

Certain brands aren't going to be any better than the others with the except of a few. You normally get what you pay for.
What's your budget though? We can suggest a few bikes if you give us one.

At that price point, you're being smart by looking for something used.
Make sure it fits.

Given your budget and the fact that you're buying used, don't think of your purchase in terms of brands. Think about finding a bike that's the proper size. That's a lot more important than finding a certain brand. When your budget is $300 or less, you really can't afford to be too choosy.

Alright, I'll keep looking around for a comfortable bike. A lot I see are usually a bit too small. :/

Yep, since you're on a limited budget you won't be able to find a lot of bikes that would work for you. Finding one that is the right size should be your first priority. After that try to get something decent. I'd probably look at older bikes with downtube shifters. They're old, but are easy to work on and usually reliable. If you do some research and look at older bikes, you can normally tell what's good and what's not.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I too am looking for my first road bike. I'm a noob, and I want to get into cycling. I know someone who's selling a Tirreno Razza 2.0 for $500 used. My question, should I pull the trigger on that deal or wait some more (maybe another yr) to buy a new road bike? I believe this bike has Shimano 105 components as well.
