Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimanno CS-HG700 vs CS-HG800 Cassette Differences

I'm looking for a cassette for my winter trainer that matches the Shimano CS-HG800 cassette (335g) that is on my bike. From what I can tell, the CS-HG700 (375g) looks identical only cheaper and slightly heavier. Other than that, is it identical? If so, I'll definitely go the CS-HG700 route and save $40+ since weight doesn't matter on the trainer.

800 is Ultegra level and 700 is 105 level, they just don't label them that way. But yeah, the only difference is weight.

the 700 cassette has a slightly different cog carrier that holds only the 3 largest cogs and uses a steel lockring. The 800 has 2 cog carriers hold the 5 largest cogs + uses an aluminum lockring. They are also completely interchangeable

Thanks guys. Sounds like the CS-HG700 is the perfect trainer cassette.
