...though i wouldnt be surprised if one of those two sizes suddenly shoots up $700 to match pricing for the other bikes. It's amazon and there is no rhyme or reason for a lot of pricing, even when algorithms are cited as reason.

Yep. Saw that exact same issue when the Raleigh Grand Prix thread was going on a few months back, prices bounced around even hour by hour.

thanks for putting this up, I tried to entice a friend for one, but for a short or tall rider, this is a great deal of a bike, ready to tour. Great gearing as is and if bar end shifters are your thing, a very competent bike.
You do have to assemble it though, so not for everyone I guess.

It checked all the important boxes for me, so I pulled the trigger...an offer I could not refuse. I just hope the xxl frame is not too big, but even if it is, the other components are probably worth the money to use on another frame.

XXL is 61 cm. That's pretty big.

on the topic--using a very short stem in my experience, has not been a real problem at all. I have a 50mm I think on one of my dropbar bikes and with a handlebar bag and two front panniers, it steers perfectly fine.
Even unloaded it steers perfectly fine, although I am very aware that this is dependant on the specific bike frame,
just bringing it up because some people claim its a total no no to do, but its not so cut and clear.

I have a bike i commute on with trekking bars on. The tt was a bit long but even with a long stem, trekking bars position is pretty good. I rode it today in fact.
Trekking bars by their nature most likely wont need a short stem, but the bars i have are std diameter, not oversize, so keep that in mind for looking at stems.
I have inexpensive trekking bars , the only ones found around here, about 25 or 30 bucks, probably the same ones you americans can get at nashbar or whatever.
9 speed deore trigger shifters work great and can be found easily new, not expensive at all and last and last and last.
if you have trekking bar qauestions, ask.

Between the long stem, longer reach bars, and modern brake levers that put you completely out on the hoods rather than the car at all, you’re probably nearly a foot out front on that bike. With a short stem and shallow bars, I’d think you could bring that in ~4 inches. That’s quite a bit when it comes to reach and could make the difference. I have long legs and always have to adjust my reach a good bit closer from “stock” set-up. If I rode a frame that “fit” me in the top tube, it would be too short height wise and the bars would be too low.

I was lent a small sized "junior"road bike bike years ago that I was going to set up for my wife. It had a long stem and "long" dimensions drop bars, and I saw that with a short stem and "short" drops, I could shave off easily 3 if not 4 inches in "seat to bars" distance.
Didnt do it in the end, got another bike, but I agree with 3speed.
measure the stem and the specifics of the bars and look around, and figure out the dimensions that work for you, hopefully you have an existing bike to compare to.

Thanks guys. The shorter stem did the trick and I stuck with the stock handlebars.
The bike fits perfectly !!! The only other thing I changed was to add another layer of black handlebar tape over the stock tape. Can't wait to load it up and see how it handles the weight.
