Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Posted pic's in the Cult of CAAD, but figured I would post some in here, since I was able to snap a few more pic's after a short ride today.

My baby. Current build

FSA Plasma
FSA K-Force Seatpost
Prologo Scratch Pro
105 Shifters
105 FD
105 RD
FSA Gossamer 53/39
Tektro R580s with Mavic Exalith 2 Pads
Mavic CC SLRs
Ebay Cages
Cateye RD 410 DW
105 Chain
SRAM Force Cassette

I will have to change the chain fairly soon, probably a KMC of some kind. I also will most likely change the brakes to SRAM Red when I find a good deal. Eventually I hope to have a FSA K-Force Crankset on here, that would really complete her. A new saddle would be nice but is not a necessity, other than that my 105 works very well so I will not be replacing it anytime soon unless the greatest deal ever came before me.

Edit: the picture does no justice to the bike, and how do I make the picture big?

I'd be interested in seeing you on the bike. TO ME, your saddle looks fairly far forward on that post. My guess is that your knee is fairly far forward, maybe over your toes when your foot is at 3 o'clock? I would bet money that if you got a zero offset post and a shorter stem it may put you in a better position for power output. Your hands are really far ahead of your front hub. I could be totally wrong though. Obbviously I have never met you, so it is a complete shot in the dark observation.

like the bike! I'm a bit partial to it lol

^ I have thought about getting a seat post with zero set back, but having been professionally fit on the bike I see no reason other than aesthetics to change any of it. I like a long stem because I like to really try to get low down on my bike while riding.

It is a cool frame, at a local crit I saw two of the same bike. I like to be a little different, but the black and white is just too cool.

Sorry, no picture but last summer I bought a fairly original '84 or '85 SR300 (Cyclone/Sugino) for cheap. Back in the mid-80s as I was just getting into racing as a junior, I lusted after the first cannondales at the LBS but could not afford one, kind of fun to finally own one. I dont race on this bike so the friction shift 6-speed parts are fine for leisurly solo training rides, using downtube shifters again is a refreshing retro-change. I leave the bike as a spare at my in-laws so that I have a bike onhand when my family visits there each summer so my kids can visit grandparents & gives me opportunity to do some riding while on vacation. The tires are in need of replacement and I am hoping to get some larger tires lined up for it next time I go as I do a fair amount of gravel path / dirt road exploring and would like to have maximum available cushioning/floatation. Eyeballing the tire fit last year, I thought that 700x28c tires should fit easily, but what about 30 or 32c? Just wondering if any early SR owners know for sure what the maximum possible tire size front and rear is for these early C-dale road frames? I would simply measure it myself except the bike is in another state.

My one dissapointment with the originality of the SR300 was finding that cannondale aparently did not spec the fit components in sizes proportional to the frame. My 58 C-C frame came factory equipped with a 9.5mm stem (Nitto), 170mm cranks (Sugino) and 41c width bars (cannondale brand) all of these parts seem woefully small at my size!

fi!zi:k has a green saddle that matches the tape, and there's the Antares Liquigas Team Issue. Unfortunately my butt has already been accustomed to the shape of the Specialized Romin.

Great new additions to the bike! Have you thought about rooting your bars down a hair?

You mean "rotate"?

Now that you've mentioned it, it is indeed a little bit "upward". Must've missed that when I changed the stem. I'll fix that later.

Thanks bianchi10!

That bike is beautiful. I wish I could get that scheme but they only have it with apex at my LBS. I actually saw a very similar one getting worked on and thought it was yours, but was missing the gumwall. I'm getting my SS in the `13 flat black colors. Not as nice but still decent looking .
