The real reason has already been posted.

Since it's on the internet, it's truth.

Mais oui, c'est vraiment!

Comparing the Nervex Pro to the Capella, I suspect the guys brazing them up had some choice words when they were handed freshly unearthed ancient lugs during the crunch year that was 1973.

Bearings are all freshly greased and adjusted and all of the previous crunchy stiffness is just a memory. Now I just need to get my hands on a freewheel with a larger cog then the 24 tooth that came with the bike and it will be ready for a test ride.
There was no shop sticker, but is anyone here familiar with this club? Photo:

It’s really a very random bunch of holes drilled into things. I know; it’s kind of funny, actually. Really; what’s up with doing one lever and not the other?!?
Maybe someone ran out of beer at that point?

That's easy. Enables you to tie down the lever to keep the FD from popping onto the big ring in "the heat of battle". I use a Velcro strap.

I think you're on to something: church key mount point!

Bearings greased and adjusted, new cables, tires, brakes, and bar end shifters. Out tomorrow morning for a shake down ride to see if the brake levers need to be repositioned before wrapping the bars. I’m thinking of going with the traditional Raleigh white wrapping.

Looking good!
I'm a fan of white tape. It goes nicely with the white brake hoods and cables, as well as the white graphics on the frame.

The only change I'd suggest, or at least inquire about, is the rear-most segment of the rear brake cable housing. It does look odd to be routing under the top tube and going to the left side. It is more common to just route it on the right side, as on my '74 International, shown below:

Steve in Peoria
(took the International out for a 50 mile ride today!! My first ride of the year on one of my light bikes!)

^ Good point; that’s an easy fix. Looking at the cable guides on your bike as compared to mine- yours look to be placed decidedly biased toward the drive side of the top tube where mine are placed almost under the middle of the same tube.
