Anyone have info on the 2001-2003 Cannondale Jekyll Lefty 1000
I have an opportunity to pick up a Cannondale Jekyll lefty 1000 for $700. Looks to be in Excellent condition. I am new to MTB'ing and this will be my first purchase of a MTB in YEARS! I read nothing but good things but would like some info from someone who knows this format. Is it easily serviced and parts readily available? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you all.

$700 is a lot for an 18 year old MTB, regardless of the condition. Guess that is the reality of COVID bike prices.
The Lefty was definitely a good fork for the time, but that is no winner of a frame. Mediocre at best even then.

I thought the same thing. But the prices of bikes with the same features are astronomical at this moment. I was looking into the Giant Talon 1 $900 with warranty. But it's made in China. I really like this Cannondale is made in USA. I'm losing my mind with all the research! 🤯

Analysis Paralysis.
Don't get caught up with the where the frame is made. Majority of them have been made overseas for years and their is nothing wrong with them.
I'd take that Giant Talon 1 over the Cannondale any day of the week. Those Lefty's have been known to be very problematic.

Are the tires, bars and stem still stock?
And keep in mind that no matter how good of condition it is 18 years old. I would be surprised if the shock and fork do not need some work, unless they have been rebuilt at some point.
Honestly, I'd rather ride the Talon 1.

What features? The sketchy 20-year-old geometry? The obsolete rear suspension design? The 26" Wheels?

You just confirmed everything I thought. I will take your advice and get the Giant Talon 1 $900 with lifetime warranty on frame and 1 year service and parts. I really do think this way is a better approach.

I just came across someone who had a Diamond Back Atroz. $700. I'm very serious about buying an MTB and getting back to the trails. Thinking of just saying the heck with it and just invest $200 and get the Giant Talon 1 brand new from LBS
