I am very sorry that your Cat passed away. I know the feeling. My old Cat passed away some time ago and I still thing of him. We got another Cat later but nothing can replace my old friend.

I'm so sorry to hear this. When they're with you for years they're not pets, they're family. Hugs...

So, ANZAC day today… Sam and I are just relaxing on the bed. (Photo using my mobile phone as I didn't want to disturb him by getting a real camera.)

There are dozens of stray cats around here, all are semi-wild, they'll almost get close enough to pet once in a while but most won't let you get closer than about ten feet.
I've got a big male that likes sunning on my boat cover, and sleeping under the cover. He wasn't too thrilled when I woke him the other day when I folded back the boat cover to get it ready for this season.
He's not my cat, just a stray that i think is part of a litter someone dumped in the area a couple years ago. This one and two others seem to have made my yard their home. You can't touch him, but he'll let you get face to face before he starts hissing or growling if he sitting on a car or boat in the yard. He was making a rumbling grunting noise when I took this pic nearly face to face after i evicted him from my boat. When I pulled back the cover he was sprawled out sleeping on the seat. He crawled out onto the folded over boat cover and sat there till I finally moved the boat with the tractor.
He'll sneak up on me when I'm in the yard but he won't come close enough to pet. I came home one day last fall late and forgot a jacket in the boat, the next morning he was sleeping on it, all balled up in it. He stalks me when I'm working in the yard, but runs if I step in his direction.
He's a big cat, bigger than most, probably close to 20 lbs or so. Ever since he slept in that jacket, he's been catching and leaving me dead moles on the front step. He does his business on another neighbors front step. He looks up at the guys security camera, leaves him a gift, looks back at the camera and walks away. He seems to wait until the guy goes to work every morning to make his first visit there.
He and one female both seem to hang together. He's fixed, but not by the catch and release program so his ear is intact.

Chopper, the ruler of all.
He was a feral that we rescued 16 years ago. He started out pretty mean but the years have mellowed him out. He's pretty chill now. We take him outside a few times a week for some sun.

Today is one month she's been gone. She'd have been 18 on the 20th of this month; this pic was taken when she was eight or nine years old:

Yeah, it's rough when a pet's been part of your life for so long. We had Emma as a kitten back in 1990, and when she passed away in 2008 I missed her terribly. We have Sam in the house now (he needed a home after my grandmother's fall and subsequent passing… likely will be with us another 10 years), but Emma's presence is still felt long after she left us.

Lisa at the vet in 2008 by Richard Klein, on Flickr
Lisa in 2017
And the last time I saw her
She was suffering from chronic kidney disease. She'd been getting subcutaneous fluids for a couple weeks, but then she stopped eating, despite appetite stimulant. She was always sweet and good-natured with me, though she didn't get along with all my other cats.

I think this may have been Sacha's issue, too - but my vet...well, I don't have anything good to say, so I won't.
Lisa was a beautiful cat - RIP.
