I might be crazy ...

Reporting in from Indiana where the weather has really sucked the last month or two (zero degrees and tons of ice) ... finally able to get out on my bike and wow! Really feels good! ...almost therapeutic ... i feel like i could ride forever!
..I was wondering if anyone else has had the same feeling after being snowed in from riding.

Yes. It's just been too cold for me. Plus wet.

I've been commuting about once every 10 days. for the last 2 months. I start itching for a ride for days then when I finally do it it's like all the world's trouble slip away for a while.

Then it snows. Repeat.

I've been doing little bits of winter riding. Feels good to be out. Yesterday I ran some errands during lunch....

Yes, I'm in Indiana as well. I hadn't rode since the 20th of December. I don't mind the cold, but I don't have studded tires. I don't want to hit ice and get hurt. I rode to the store today. I'm hoping I can ride to work Monday.

I quit riding in the winter entirely. I don't even want to ride my fat bike in the winter. We had about 6" of snow on the ground once this year, and it didn't even occur to me to try the fat bike in it! (I wish it would've occurred to me! Now I'm curious!- I literally didn't even think of it till just now!!!(

So jealous of lake effect snow. Or maybe not as we hit 50°F today and there's only little piles of once mountainous drifts.

Once the temperature is over freezing it's just a great feeling. Been hearing more birds chirping!

You are crazy, but everyone in this world is (well except for me, I am perfectly normal in every way ; ) but yes getting out and riding after not riding for a while is nice.

I do remember one year it was supposed to be Critical Mass, I believe and it had started snowing and a friend of mine and I were going to head down and do the ride which probably nobody went to. Anywho he started out part way and was like "this is stupid I am heading back" and then I ended up meeting him back at his place to hang out and watch Frank Zappa's 200 Motels. Ended up being a good time though I kind of wish we had tried to ride. Maybe now that I have better gear for dealing with winter, it might be more fun!

I honestly don't know what I would prefer as far as snow amounts in winter. One just needs to embrace one's local conditions. I can also go snowshoeing and cross country skiing, so there are benefits to the snow.

Ive had the opposite reaction. Most of last year I would do at least 100mi/week. Since Christmas, only bout 1 ride/week @ 20 miles each. Now, a 30 miles ride feels like 50!
