Elbow rest for the stoker?

My wife was looking at my tt bike this am and thought it would be nice to add a similar elbow rest to her stoker bar. I have no idea how I could possibly fit one on.
Has anyone use or seen one?

Thinking about it, the stoker arm rests would have to be wider than the captain whereas traditional tri-bars the arm rests are close together. I googled your question and found this listed in ebay:

Aero Armrest Tandem Stoker Handlebar 25 French Stem Atax Nitto Specialized Pace | eBay

Which confirms my thought, and does not look comfortable.

The above setup would make the stoker sit upright, negating the aero profile.

Could you add something like a long bullhorn grip that would be just wider than the captain's hips? Then add your armrest to that?

Unless your tandem is longer than usual or your stoker very small you can't fit a conventional aero bar position behind the captain. You have to go outside the captains hips as in above photos. To me this has dubious advantage due to the extra width added. Some have managed to fit in another variation of the idea by fitting some forearm pads and holding the captains seat post. You need to experiment to see what works/fits.

Elbow rest for the stoker?

When we TT, my stoker has conventional aerobar pads on her bars. Instead of typical aerobar extensions her hand go on the captains seat post . Results in a very low position with no gap between her head and my back. For a given power output, it's worth an extra .5mph.

These pictures show our first attempt at the setup.

Since these pics, we refined the set up a bit, with the pads directly on the bar, and a flip up mechanism so they flip out of the way not in use.

Thanks for the photos. They are exactly what I needed.
We don't race on our tandem, and my wife doesn't particularly like to go fast.
These elbow rests are for touring comfort not aero tuck.
I'll order some parts and will try them out next week.
I am not sure how comfortable they will be, but am perfectly willing to experiment for the boss.

Our position ends up being more aero because the stokers and forearms are completely behind the captain's legs, instead of outboard.

My stoker is 5'8" which gives more room though, and it might be difficult to get the postion to work with a taller stoker.

I'd suggest getting the Profile by design elbow rests that are spring loaded and flip up when not in use. Before we changed our setup to that my stoker would bang her knees into the pads standing.

In that Aero Stoker thread, this post:
https://www.bikeforums.net/tandem-cyc...l#post15514271

shows what we did and what we still use. We'll never go back to ordinary stoker bars.

Here's a photo of us scooting on a century we did last year:

Wayne,
We just been on a couple of rides where standing was not required.
The bar/elbow pads did easily cleared her knees.
Will let you know after this weekend rides and the final tunings.

Wayne,
We got another 80 miles in this weekend.
The new stoker handle bar works perfectly.
No problem standing for either of us.
My wife highly recommend it to any stoker looking for a little more comfort in the back.
Aero position is an added bonus.
Here is the final configuration:

P.S. I took your suggestion and routed the DI2 wires and junction box through the handle bar and stem.
So the only wires showing now are the two brake cables:

This is what I've been looking to do to. What bars do you have the aero pads attached to? Do you know if there is something that can be attached directly to the handlebar so you don't need the bar extensions?

Profile by Design aerobars will mount directly to the handlebars without the extension.

Our current setup uses the pad portion of Profile by Design Aerostrykes mounted directly to the bar. They have the advantage of being spring loaded and moving up out of the way when not in use. Before we made the change my stoker would hit her knees when standing.

That's hilarious. Don't give my wife any ideas though. She may want one of those too.

Actually the Seavo is a blast to ride. Comfortable and very stable. And that pic really was 4 days post op, and we rode for about 17mi that morning. It was the only way for me to ride other than a rearwheel trainer, for a couple months!
