We've lost a 50+ member

I am sad to report that we have lost a 50+ member, Yodatic, has passed away. His wife, Emily, joined the site to post a note, of Tom's passing, in my visitor's messages, yesterday. I thought of Tom as a friend, another NW Florida guy. We never got to ride together but had hoped to get up sometime just to spin for a bit. He was so excited about the fat bike he got last winter, I remember his posts here about riding it.

He fought the brain cancer hard, but in the end he lost the battle, Glioblastoma was the type of cancer he was fighting against.

God Speed Yodatic, you will be missed, sorely.

Respectfully,
Bill

I looked through all the local newspaper's obituaries, and death notices, since his passing, none has been posted, I know of no arrangements for Yodatic/Tom, as of now. If I learn of anything I'll post in this thread. A proper BF, "Wall of Remembrance", post has been requested through an Administrator, per the Forum rules. Sorry if this post is out of place.

Very sorry to hear that Yodatic has died. I mostly remember his posts about classic steel mountain bikes.

Cancer sucks!

Thank you very much for the update, Bill. Cancer is never fun, but glioblastoma, which is what Brittany Maynard had, is a particularly dreadful way to go.

Any friend of steel mountain bikes is a friend of mine.

Despite BF being a virtual domain, I've come to consider many of the the abstract user names as friends and I'm sure that Tom felt the same as he shared his passion for cycling.

That is the magic of this site and these forum threads, particularly 50+. Lots of "good friends I never met." I shall miss him.

For those so inclined to donate, consider 3000Miles to a Cure, which is a charity raising money to fight all brain cancers, and was started by Maria Parker, ultra cyclist and RAAM finisher.

I lost a co-worker a few years back to Glioblastoma--bad stuff, not much can be done to treat it. Prayers to the family.

Same here. Probably why we have so much fun when we meet someone from the forums.

So true. I’ve had the chance to meet several subscribers in person on on Fifty-Plus Annual Rides since 2010, including Miss Kenton, Irwin7938, Road Fan, rtool, tsl, freedonrider1, jimmuller, BlazingPedals...

I’d like to say more about whom and what we discussed, but by mutual agreement, ”What happened in Boston, stays in Boston.”
