I thought this might be appropriate place for my first post:




While I'm not a big commuter I do ride to work, and I am increasing the frequency with which I ride to work. The bike is an '07 Fisher Cronus, and so far all I have done with it is add an Edge 205, the Kryponite Lock and the Saddle bag. I have resisted fenders etc so far.

Got this last week, it my first non mountain bike. Took me a couple of rides to get used to the clipless pedels. But man is is fast and way lighter than my other bikes.

as long as you like it it was the right choice. Mine is the only one I see around here too. I did see 2 of them at the TDC but that's the only other time I've seen another one being ridden or parked anywhere other than at REI.

Hi, I think I saw you this morning (on Cordydon), you were wearing beige pants? I was at The Second Cup, but I was on my scooter. That Taylor ride was nice. I started at Pembina, down Taylor through the "forest" down Cordydon to Roblin, north on the perimeter over the river, down Portage Ave. Through Wosley to Main St, down St. Mary's to the Floodway, then just a short 5 km home. Total 73.05km, 2:35:00.

Yup that was me this morning, taking advantage of the new asphalt on Corydon, was cruising at just around 30 which is pretty quick for me (I'm 265lbs and woefully out of shape).

Wow that's much farther then I've ever gone! My longest to date was 38km towing my boys in a trailer and I was beat after that. My calculations with 2:50 show you were going 26km/h for that long, wow!

Heres what I ride, although I'm still adding accessories. I have some REI panniers too which are not pictured. I'm going to get a rear rack for the townie and one for the Peugeot. The Trek is pretty much complete.

Nice thing about being a commuter in LA,CA fenders not really needed. I do think they look cool on some bikes, tho...especially the chrome ones, or the wooden ones..

I'd keep the handlebars just cuz putting on flats means changing out the shifters would mean extra $$$ for fewer hand positions (drops for the wind, climbing, etc.) I would swap out them pedals though, but that's just cuz the ones you got on there now look like the testers they use at bike shops. How about a waterproof pannier or two for carrying all your stuff and grocery getting?

edit: Maybe some inline cross levers so you can ride the tops and be more heads up?

Actually...that pic was taken as soon as I brought that bike home (about 1 1/2 years ago), and you're right those are the tester pedals. I swapped them out with the ones I had bought for what was then my current bike (decent pair of shimanos). I put those pedals on my other bike (just to still have clipless).
