I raced my dog Shadow the other day, and he dropped me in the first 100m. In fairness, though -- and this may surprise you -- he's now considered the official winner of the 1999-2005 Tours. So it wasn't really a fair fight.

What is this thread about? Do I need to read all the posts to figure it out?

Looks like a young American Kestrel or '"Sparrowhawk".
Here's some better competition:

The cows of my neighbour tried to race me once but I'm too fast. Now they just stand and watch me ride by every morning. I'm sure that if they could stand up they would give me a round of applause.

I have not raced any animals,
though a duck once passed me before landing in a creek...
Ihave looked it up, and ducks are among the fastest horizontal flyers in the animal kingdom. If not, then I do not want to hear it.

A friend of mine used to work at Gatorland when they had Sloths. One attacked him while he was feeding them. He asures me that Sloths move very quickly, and that rumors that say they do were STARTED by Sloths to throw people off. He has scars to prove his story. And he used to have a copy of the ER bill. Among my friends, we leave Sloths out of it when he is around....

I knew a guy who was afraid to race anyone for fear of being called a racist.

I race seagulls on the Naval Academy Bridge. I do it to build their character, not to shame them.

I had a great race with my neighbors dog. Me and the dog were at max speed. The dog's head was low, ears back, tail down and flying! We were neck and neck. Then the dachshund gave up and went home.

I know it looks slow, but my daughter's guinea pig is quick.
But I can still out sprint it.

I once raced a squirrel, but the squirrel complained that his kit was too tight making it difficult for him to comfortably stash his nuts while racing. He was still kind enough to give me a head start. We raced and raced, and raced so hard he lost one of his nuts trying to win. And he did.
I still see that squirrel from time to time. He wears a new kit now...a Team Kit...but he looks like every other single nut in a Team Kit racing along the MUP.

One of my great moments in sportsmanship was when I raced a beaver, being the gentleman am I, the only proper thing was to let it finish first.
