Intro and first project

Evening all! I stepped into the vintage bike world today completely clueless on what I'm doing and glad I found this! I'm in EMS by trade and actually starting a bike team for our county EMS system and it's going well.
I picked up a Peugeot today what I believe is a 85/86 PGN maybe? Serial # Y71222353. Can't seem to confirm that serial number as all the components are mismatched. It's been modified with all sorts of things but frame appears to be as stated. Red with a chrome fork and the 501 stickers on the frame and fork. I'll post a pic as soon as I can or link an album if I can figure that out. I'll be hunting for components.
It also came with a 1981 Miyata 610 in super nice condition. Way too small for me, that one will probably go on to someone else.

It looks to be one of the internal lug, and has a seat post binder bolt, that’s a good thing. I am not sure that is the fork original to the bike. I would have expected a logo engraved sloping crown fork. For the brand it is a later 80’s, possibly English threaded. If not English then Swiss bb.

I agree, ccharles1 make sure you check bottom lug on headtube for signs of damage, along with downtube near lug.

From what I have seen in the brochures I was thinking the same. Also the black letters has thrown me off. Looks like the triathlon version was the only ones with black letters?

I believe we have a winner.... with a non-original fork. Found this on here by T-Mar on another thread from 2020:

The subject bicycle is a 1988 Peugeot Nice. The tubing is internally brazed Reynolds 501 but only for the main tubes. The stays and forks are lesser grade, likely hi-tensile steel. The component group is Shimano Exage Sport. Original MSRP would have been ~$450 US.

Mine has RX100 brakes and shifters, and Shimano FD. The RD is a Suntour unit I'll have to clean better to get the model.

The plot thickens. I got another bike thrown into this deal, I have no idea what it is but it's all Campagnolo components. The only distinguishing feature I can see is the down tube where it attaches to the BB is oval. Terrible rattle can paint job. I added pics to my album of it.

Is there a reference document anywhere that would have all the measurements of like the BB and steerer etc. on it? I ordered a digital caliper and hopefully that arrives today. Still would be nice to have verification (of my ability to use said caliper as well as correct measurements). I have a janky bar and stem set up to change and I would like to upgrade the drivetrain to brifters and a 8/9/10 freehub set up as well so newer wheelset as well. I'm definitely open for recommendations!

What are your secret plans for it? Restore it back to stock? Put the coolest parts that go on there? Modernize it?

I'm thinking a cross of more modern drivetrain and brifters and then more period for the rest. I think the stem and bars that were factory on it would be 10/10 but maybe something similar. I'm hoping the paint cleans up ok, it has a lot of scratches and I feel fairly confident I'd never find those decals. I looked very briefly and saw nothing. So hopefully not have to repaint. White bar tape and I think I want a white modern seat similar to whats on my Canyon.

Under some paint I have found this one to be a Bianchi. No idea what model and the numbers on the BB are buried in paint. It has Bianchi stamped in the rear brake attachment on both sides of it. The underside of the BB is caked with paint but did have a plastic cable guide bolted to it. Campagnolo everything except for the random wheels on it.
