Switch my drop road bar to bullhorns?

I've been doing a lot of fun rides as well as short distance errands on my Bianchi SS. I enjoy the bike, its a lot of fun. But I always feel like the bars are narrow! I never ride in the drops - I either ride on the hoods or the flats. Its the same as my geared commuter, always on the hoods.

I am looking at this:
https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...93_-1___202445

For the money I can't go wrong. If it doesn't work out I can always use it on another project. I think I will have to change brake levers to a tri version (??). My quill stem measures a bit over 25mm. I am told that 26mm can be shimmed to fit if need be.

Has anyone else embarked on such a project? It looks simple enough. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

26.0 bars shimmed to fit into a 25.4 stem?

That's not how it works.

Hmmm... so I should be looking at swapping out the stem, too?

I found Nashbar has a quill/stem adapter that takes road stems. That would size me up properly. (Any problem that can be solved with money isn't a problem.... just an expense!)

i switched to deda bullhorns after being on fuji drops for awhile. I dont regret it at all i like how im stretched out a little more and i really like them while climbing. I won some deda drops on ebay for cheap threw them on my bike and after a day of riding with them again i went back to my bullhorns.

I just checked out your photos. That's a nice looking bike! What bottle holder is that?

It appears to be a Profile Design Aqua Rack with a custom holding bracket.

I'm another bullhorn convert, prefer it over drop bars any day. Control and leverage are superior for street use.

Thanks for the replies. I am adding some cheapo aero bars to my geared commuter so when that's dailed in I will tackle this project.

You can just use a flat hea to pry open the quill and stuff the bars in

You know, I just re-read my OP and realize how dumb that sounded. Lesson to all: do not research bike parts and/or post on BF while tired!! Don't know how I was thinking my quill stem would be bigger than the bar. Hope I at least entertained a few of you!!

Now that I am awake and fully caffienated, what would be a good option for brake levers? I thought I could use my dropbar levers for the moment to be sure this is what I want to do. It would be a bit awkward, but it should work in a pinch.
