War wounds!
Finally I got some battle scars! These were from Saturday, I took a turn too fast and hit a patch of gravel. Most of the black stuff is the asphalt ground in my flesh. The one in my hip went all the way through to the muscle. Luckily my frame was UNTOUCHED due to the fact that I took 98% of the impact. My shifters got a tad grinded but I think they'll be okay. I am a little pissed that I ruined my nice microsensor shorts though... but hey! I can't complain... my bike is okay, thats all that matters right?
Anyway if anyone else has some wounds of their own, post em! We'll make this the official battle scars thread!

DAMN !!
Reality Check - Yesterday I went flying up a hard right turn at a really good pace and felt the back end slide about a foot.
I thought it was cool - felt like I was racing on a dirt track, but I guess I was about 3 mph away from doing what you did.
OUCH !!!

Ouch! I once did something similar in the rain, turning left and wham to the ground. I slid for quite a ways. . . the water helped lubricate I guess. I got some road rash, but nowhere near as bad as yours (maybe the water saved me). The subsequent bruising however, took weeks to disappear.

I have to admit i've slid out like that before when hitting a patch of leaves on a corner back in the fall. Just like you my bike was fine because I took most of the impact on my elbow hip and knee. That gravel burn looks nasty, hope you can ride again soon

eeeeeeewwwww! Thanks for showing us the bloody bandage, nice touch!
I fell twice last year, once actually got hit by a car, but neither one involved any blood.
The worst case I ever heard of was Eric The Human Scab, a guy my SO rides with. Apparently, a few years ago he was in a race and crashed, losing a lot of skin. His buddies said he should bail, but he insisted on continuing, and then crashed again. He lost more skin and was bleeding all over the place and then began to get a bit woozy, so he bailed and went to the hospital. He was okay, it was mostly skin(and blood) and when he healed, he was apparently just one big scab. Hence the nickname!

Mikey C posted pics, why no one else?
No major crashes for me. Just little ones were I ruined good clothes. The shower afterwards is always the worst.

I couldn't take any pics of mine because the gorriest part was a little too close to my butt.

Well I sure feel like a big dope. I just crashed! Ugh, got some road rash on me, but not that bad.
I was booming down a hill, and the left-turn light turned yellow. I didn't want to be stuck at a red going left since bicycles don't always trigger the light change mechanism. So I went for it! Bad idea.
My rear brake started skidding the tire outward on the sharp turn, so I decided I had to let up and go over the fast approaching, and highly immovable, menacing curb. I got the front tire over ok, but the rear bounced hard, and sent me flying. Broken ego mostly, right there at the intersection for all the world to see. How embarrassing.
On the plus side, I actually felt my helmet hit something. Go helmet!

That one on the leg looks particulary nasty, the photo makes it appear as if there is a hole going about 1/2 inch deep-I hope you went to see a doctor for this. Open holes (if that is what it is) can lead to serious infection problems.
