That cop had better never transfer to Fl. The gals around here wear that much and less while out riding. I wonder what he would have done if she'd been wearing a two piece bikini?

Without her getting a ticket we really don't know if this happened or not. However the NYPD does not seem to have many friends in the cycling community.

Apparently, the NYPD is employing former members of the Taliban.

Unfortunately, we have a guy here in town that rides the hike and bike trail on a cruiser bike...in nothing but a thong. I would guess he's in his 50's. Ick.

There used to be a jogger in my neighborhood that had to be in his late 70s at least. He wore nothing but extra-short windshorts and sneakers. It took a couple weeks of seeing him go by before I realized that he wasn't wearing a slightly dirty and very wrinkled white jumpsuit.

I wonder if she had not been on a bike, would the officer have reacted the same way.

It obviously wasn't about the dress. It may well have been about the fact that she wasn't overweight. Fit women do stand out in a crowd, bike or no bike, because they are so rare in the U.S. Add in the fact that she was on a bike and it is no surprise she was harassed by a lesser life form.

I laugh every time a see the commercial for "Blue Bloods" where Tom Selleck says something like, "You have the honor of being the best trained police officers in the world..."
Evidently some NYPD officers really enjoy making up laws as they go.

hate to say it, but this seems like a publicity stunt to me. That's the business this woman is in. It's working

In another city, maybe. With the wacky war on bicycles in New York City right now, the woman's story sounds very plausible to me.

Yes, because nothing sells bicycles like saying that if you're a woman you'll be harrassed unless you wear a burqa.

Publicity stunt? Really? Have you been reading the news about police harassment of cyclists in NYC? A ticket for riding with a tote bag on handlebars. A ticket for not riding in the bike lane. Just how did she involve the police in her "publicity stunt?"

according to a poll on the news page... 82% of the respondents think this "too sexy to ride" is ridiculous.

Ridiculous that it would happened? Or a ridiculous hoax?

I'd rather she didn't.

Anybody notice the top tube? It's because she's from northern Europe; it converts into a "water pipe."

Being forced to cover up legs such as those should be a crime.

Agreed, with the "crackdown" on cyclists in NYC, as well as the narrow minded view that the Hassedic(sp) Jews towards women in "immoral" clothing, I have no problems believing that some gal was stopped for what some LEO thought was clothing that was to "revealing."
