24" gravel tires?

My kids bikes have 24"x1" tires, one is a trek discovery Channel, the other is a felt. Both are road bikes. I want to get them some wider gravel tires, I think 1-3/8 should fit without issues. My question is what's out there, do they make them?

This popped up on the local Craigslist a few days ago.
Diamondback kids cyclocross - $350 (Eugene)
'
It looks like it is the Haanjo Trail 24 (2016)

Has it been discontinued? It looks like it was a pretty sweet kid's bike.

Anyway, the bike is listed with:

Kenda K-161 Kross Cyclo, 24x1 3/8" (37-540)

Umm....

I thought the standard was 520 BSD. I think 540 is a wheelchair size. So, check your tires, but these may not work.

What's the bead seat diameter of your rims? There are several wheel sizes that get called 24".

24x1 on a road bike often means 520mm bead seat diameter. If you've got 520s, you could try the Vee Rubber MK3, which is listed as 1 3/8. There's also a Terry tire called "Tellus" which is listed as 1 1/4, but some reviewers indicate that it runs quite narrow.

My son’s 24” Kona Hula came with Schwalbe Blackjacks (I think the wheel is 507mm BSD). It’s a decent all round tire, a little more knobby than you need on gravel, but with kids that age attempting various MTB shenanigans, it’s nice for him to have something with a little grip. Kona has since changed the bike from a kids MTB/hybrid to more of all round flat bar road bike...now it comes with a Kenda Kwick, which is probably better suited for gravel/road.

(edit: OP, I just noticed you said “road bikes”...I don’t think 507mm standard is common on road bikes, so these may not be compatible with your rims and may be too wide for the frame)

what exactly constitutes a gravel tire to be a gravel tire?

the only time a Slick has ever failed me is on grass, and on slime. Lower pressure has been the biggest benefit to riding gravel, and that is just so that the tire deforms over the gravel rather than bouncing off of it in uncertain directions.
