The Epic Pioneer Century
It’s PIONEER CENTURY time!
Portland Wheelmen Touring Club presents Pioneer Century on June 2, 2018. In one form or another (you may remember the Pioneer was also known as the Spring Century) this ride has been offered for over 4 decades. Like so many other local event rides it’s a road biking tradition for good reason.
You will find multiple distances with diverse levels of challenge for your riding pleasure. And once again we are showcasing the spectacular Mt. Hood Territory featuring Mt. Hood itself. You’ll ride quiet country roads around Champoeg State Park, Canby and Molalla, depending upon your route selection.
Why PIONEER Should be on your “to do” List:
1. This is the 44th year PWTC has put on this ride. It’s not your mama’s Pioneer, it’s better!
2. Multiple routes. Do the ride YOU want.
3. The scenery is bucolic and varied. Lovely little communities to ride through.
4. Renowned Rest Stops. Well thought out snacks along the way planned to meet your needs by fellow cyclists.
5. Lunch upon finish at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds. Be sure to order a Rice Bowl of your choice when you pre-register.
6. Festive Fairground Fun at the end of your ride. Eat, drink and be merry with your riding buddies.
7. Wine and beer available through St. Josef’s Winery.
8. A truly unique Pioneer Century jersey available to memorialize your ride.
9. An ideal time to test your fitness for upcoming Seattle to Portland, Cycle Oregon or other events you have planned this summer.
10. PWTC shares profits with community organizations such as NW Bicycle Safety Council and Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway.
