I have been around bikes for 55 years & still haven't found anything I like that works better that twin rear Wald Baskets. They have folding models as well. Sturdy, last a lifetime, & are not expensive. If something carried needs to be covered, use some type of waterproof bag.

When you say saddle bag, I assume you mean a bag that attachest to the saddle, not panniers which attach to a rack on either side of a wheel. Carradice is the old standbuy, and one source is Peter Whiteat www.peterwhitecycles.com . Harris Cyclery has two different brands that are copies, more or less of Carradice. www.harriscylery.com Rivendell has another brand , www.rivbike.com . Bags are limited in some way by their fixed capacity, whereas baskets are open on top and can hold more. I have a Carradice and it is good, but the others are probably just as good.

Check out the Thread below yours on Groceries,,, Panniers,,,Trailers ect. If you are looking for saddlebags per se, look at the link I left for Davis Tent Makers. They have a large pair made out of high grade canvas & Leather for $35/pr, small size for $30. And made in the USA. Now they are for Horses/mules so a little modification may be in order but considering the price and quality, well worth it.

Here's the link anyways:

I don't know where you are located, but I'm currently having Swift Industries (https://swiftindustries.wordpress.com...e-touring-bag/) build a saddlebag. I went and talked with the owners and they are great folks. Very easy to work with. I can't wait to get my bag
