Illegal to park in county park?
I park my car in Overpeck Park (Leonia NJ) as part of my commute. A guy that works there mentioned that cameras were setup to watch some of the parking lots. He suspects that tickets might be handed out to folks like me for using the lot for longer than others. Is it illegal to park for 8 hours, for example? I looked on their website but saw nothing about this.

Look an all the bulletin boards around the park entrance. Any policies would have to be clearly stated.
Talk to the Parks Department, and your County Commissioner if you have concerns.
Cameras may be a good thing, helping prevent theft and vandalism.

You're in New Jersey? You have three standard options. (1) get a lawyer and sue once ticketed, (2) pay off the Parks Commissioner with a contribution "for the kids", or (3) hire Vito to whack the Parks Commissioner...

I was thinking of that. Although in the lot by the tennis courts where I used to park, there were no lights. So I changed to parking before that where its a little better lit.

what guy? ppl make up stuff just to piss ppl off. call the town hall & get the facts. you can also call the closest police dept. & let them know what you are doing & ask if it's OK. if it is, then tell them about the creepy guy who approached you & tell them you're worried about your car due to the creepy guy loitering in the park. give them a description. maybe they'll roll by from time to time ...

There are advantages of your vehicle getting lost among other park user's vehicles.
However, my general rule is to choose a parking spot that doesn't interfere with other park use.
I.E. Don't park right in front of the restrooms, near picnic tables, or other activity areas. If you use the park regularly, you'll know where people tend to congregate, and where your car is least in the way.

County parks here are open " Sunrise to Sunset " the police or sheriff could cite you for being on county property after hours

Thanks for the replies so far. The guy that told me works in the park. But he could still be wrong about the cameras purposes. Will give the Bergen County Park admin a ringy dingy next week. I wimped out today so am taking the train. 
. Overall I would recommend park and ride to all if needed. It cuts down my cycling commute from hour and a half each way to 35 - 40 minutes. When weather gets better, I can resume riding from home 2 to 3 days a week.

You should be fine during stated park hours.
I'm sure they want to monitor activities in the parking lots (more to go back for history if there is an issue) and to make sure no one is there after hours.
