Emma Peel rides into eternity

I know this should probably go in "celebrities on bikes" but Diana Rigg passed away today...

I vaguely remember that show, (The Avengers?), but I was just a kid then, & still not really into girls. My older brother liked her, so she was OK, I guess. 🤔😉

Mrs. Peel from The Avengers was my first celebrity crush when I was just a kid. Sorry to hear of her passing. RIP Dame Diana

For those of you who aren’t familiar, here’s a great video:

Dame Diana (or is it Dame Enid?, her actual first name) starred opposite George C. Scott in a thoroughly charming movie, The Hospital, 1971. Her sex appeal in the TV series was lost on me, too, ... but by 1972, when the movie finally reached our small-town theatre, I was a changed man . The poster that appears on IMDB is total 1970s misleading silliness — it’s a really good movie, well worth watching as part of a Rigg or Scott tribute.

So sad. Also my first TV crush. Along with MaryAnn...

Caught the re-run years, but never missed them. Even as a kid, I was always impressed that she broke TV depictions of women, but yet maintained a quirky sexiness.

I did not know she was queen Tyrell of Game of Thrones until it was mentioned this morning. What a great character and so not Emma Peel of the Avengers.

All the boys in the 60s and 70s were in love with Emma Peel. And the 80s, if you were listening to the radio in Seattle back then:
