Bikepacking.com has a great article talking about various types of comfort bars for mountain bikes. All of these would apply to your Roam. Be mindful of the total bar width you want (you may want a wider width if you also want them swept back some) and the clamp diameter. Your Roam very likely has a 31.8mm clamp diameter, which is also what most mountain bikes use. But there are some 25.4mm clamp bars, too (which you can use, with adapter sleeves).
Edit: it would help to link to the article!

Thank you very much hokiefyd, just read it and it is a big help. Don't know how I missed it with my research but I am glad you gave me the link.

Hi, I'm new to the forum as I'm considering purchasing a Roam 1 or 0.
Where I will be cycling in the UK my route could quickly change from road/path to rough track. Therefore I would like to quickly change the fork lock on and off. For this the cable remote would be perfect. I've not seen included as standard on any Roam. So, is this available as a specifiable extra at time of purchase, or is it available as an aftermarket upgrade?
Thanks. I love browsing the Roam posts for background to your experiences with this bike.

Hi Steve. I think this is possible -- Suntour probably offer a remote lockout kit that can be fitted to the fork, but your local shop would know best what's available. Cheers!

Yes, you have the correct size. The tire that comes on it is a hybrid type tire, suitable for a range of surfaces. What type of riding to you usually do, and what tire are you considering?

There are plenty of tires for mixed-duty like you describe in this size range. You could use as narrow as a 700x35, or up to about a 700x45, and still have plenty of frame clearance. Schwalbe make a number of different tires that should work well for your intended use. The Hurricane is available in a 700x40 size, and is more suited for more mixed use conditions. The Little Big Ben is available in a 700x38 size, and is going to be better suited for commuting. Continental make a number of different city-oriented tires in this size range, as do Michelin, Vittoria, and many others. Here's my 2018 Roam 2 on the Schwalbe Little Big Bens, for reference (and those are Planet Bike Cascadia fenders).

Thanks for the fast replay
One more question when buying spare tubes I need to buy the exact sizes right like my tires are 700x38 I need a tube that is that same size.

Hi everyone. I’m new to cycling. Looking at getting something for casual riding for fun/exercise, would be mostly on road, some light off-road stuff.
I was looking at the 2020 Roam 2 & 3.
I’m in Australia, the 2 is $899 and the $3 is $699.
the only difference I can see in the specs is the shifters, gears and chain, and the 2 has 2 extra gears.
Is the 2 worth the extra $200?
Thanks

You don't need the exact size, no. In fact, many tubes are marked with multiple sizes. You might find a tube that fits 700x35-45 for example, which would work fine for 700x35, 700x38, 700x40, 700x42, 700x45, or anything in between. You can even use smaller tubes (like 700x28 or 700x32) if that's all you can find. Theoretically, a smaller tube will stretch slightly more and could be slightly more vulnerable to punctures, but I'm not sure this is a practical consideration.

Hi!
https://www.giant-bicycles.com/au/bikes-roam-disc
The Roam 3 has a 2x8 speed drivetrain, whereas the Roam 2 has a 2x9 speed drivetrain. Otherwise, they're basically the same bike, with the same frame, same fork, same brakes, same crankset, same handlebar, same seatpost and seat, same wheels, same tires, etc. Unless you have to have the Charcoal/Black colorway on the Roam 2, I think the Roam 3 is probably the better value.
The only caveat -- the Roam 2 has a 36-tooth sprocket on the cassette whereas the Roam 3's largest is a 34. That's not a huge difference, but may be a consideration for you if you feel you'll be spending a lot of time climbing hills in that largest sprocket. Otherwise...if your riding is more typical pathway/fire road/gravel road type riding, then either drivetrain should be suitable for that.

29x2 fits on my 2018 frame, and I can't imagine they'd have reduced the clearance. It is tight, though. The tire can't have wide-splayed knobs on it. I had a WTB Nano on mine in 29x2, and that one fit okay. You can move to 27.5" wheels and fit up to about 2.3" wide tires on those.

Hi! Just picked up a Roam 2 yesterday, bought the charcoal/black version. I had loaned my old Giant Revel 2 to my brother and has been riding it every day, so I picked up the Roam to ride with him on the local rails to trails. Haven't had a chance to ride it much yet since it was raining yesterday but the sun is out and though the wind is gusting, I'm going to try and make it out to ride.

Just wanted to say I'm no longer a member of the Roam Club. I sold my 20010/11 Roam-2 to a friend who is making very good use of it. He's been riding it more than his Specialized Allez Elite.

I am new to this forum and a new owner of Roam 2. After calling 10+ bike shops in my area, I finally scored a medium size Roam 2. I guess in this lockdown time, bike has become a hot commodity now. Anyway, just have a silly question here. If I want to replace the grip with, say Ergon GP5 or Giant Ergo Max with bar ends, how do I remove the current one? Searched on internet but didnt find one that is same type as Roam 2 grip where it seems there is a small hole in the end but not sure what this is for. Tried the screw driver in it but there is no screw in it. Would appreciate if anyone can provide some easy tips.
I am also looking for a more comfortable saddle. Any suggestions?

Good video on how to remove and add grips:
I typically use window cleaner rather than alcohol to remove or add non screwed in grips.

Thank you Travbikeman. I did see this video and none of the grips are the same as Roam2. Want to see anyone here who owns the Roam and actually changed grip.

I already plan to upgrade some stuffs :
- add fenders rear and front
- new pedals
- tube protection (under the chain)
- comfy saddle
- maybe handlebar less wide
I'll try to pick up some informations in the thread but if you have advices I'll appreciate

New Roam 2 owner
Hi all, I just got my first bike as an adult and picked up a roam 2. My ride probably consists of 85% roads and 15% trails around the house at the moment. I’m wondering if anyone lowered their handle bars and experiences with it. Would it be recommended for my type of riding ? Thanks.
