My bomb shelter shop
In the winter months I work on my bikes in a 60's bomb shelter rather than an unheated garage The temp stays around 55 degrees year round and the heat and humidity are easily controlled It sits outside of the footprint of the house and about 4 feet below the basement floor It has a steel door lockable from the inside only , some sort of a toilet , a hand crank air exchanger and had bunks along one wall that would sleep the 5 family members The ceiling is poured concrete 2-3 feet thick Thought some would find it interesting. I can imagine at some point the family must have spent a few days in it. Maybe I am not the only one , Frisky

Looks great.
All you need to do is round it out with a Mad Max style bike, perhaps with a crossbow, and you'll be ready for the end of the world... and the end of gasoline.

Every now and then you hear about those old USAF missile silos that are for sale. Looks like a cool place to live, but you got to wonder if it is still on the Russian target maps.

Ah, memories of my youth and the Cold War era. I guess bomb shelters would be much more effective than the "Duck and Cover" drills we had in school.

Boy could you imagine having to hang for a month or so down there with four other family members? Need a privacy screen around that toilet...and some magazines. And speaking of 5 people and one toilet in a small sealed space, I'm beginning to understand what that blacksmith bellows pump, aka air exchanger was there for!
So you're all set for an EMP but I'd put some bottled water and canned goods in there!

That is so cool! Growing up, I remember my parents having brochures for those. I used to love reading the brochures and dreaming about my own shelter. Never knew anyone who had one though, until now.
