Freehweel knocking noise?
I bought a department store bicycle for the winter but it has a knocking noise I believe comes from the Superwin freewheel. I searched for this on the Internet but can't confirm if anyone has actually SOLVED the knocking noise by REPLACING the freewheel. Has anyone ever solved a knocking noise by replacing a freewheel?

As have I. For a little while some SunTour Perfect freewheels had a slight bit too much slop to the bearing "adjustment". The outer body (and attached cogs) would rock back and forth on the inner body. Depending which cog one was using the outer body would rock one way then the other using the engaged pawls as the pivot point. There would be a twice a rotation knock easily heard and felt. Andy
