What do you do for music while riding?
What do you guys and gals use to get music to your ears while riding? I'm usually not a huge fan of earbuds because I like to hear road noise and what's around me, but I'll occasionally pop one in on the non road side. Was also thinking of a good mount to at least have some music coming from my phone, but I have been toying with the RFLKT computer in case it rains and I don't want my phone out in the elements.

Obviously (or maybe not obviously...) no one is wearing over the ear beats-style headphones, so it's normally earbuds. Both ears if I'm on a VERY light traffic road, nothing if I'm in any kind of traffic whatsoever. Phone speakers suck to the point of being intolerable, so I never listen to music on my phone's speaker.

If cycling ever gets to be such a chore that I need music to make it bearable, I'll find something else to spend too much money on.

Ive brought some books on cd on the mup, more precisely playaways which use headphones and have a self contained mp3 player. Wouldnt want to on the roads. Saw a guy on a trail blasting music out not sure what he was using. I followed him for a minute it was a good song then he got ahead of me. I think there are specific speakers that fit in your bottle cage. Oh and I sing once or twice.

I hired a guy to ride a BMX bike behind me with a boombox. He's pretty slow so I'm having him take EPO, hope he'll be able to keep up.

Lol at the usual "music is distracting and dangerous while riding" posts. I use one earbud on the right side wired under my jersey to my phone in my pocket during solo rides, in or out of traffic. I don't blast music and it's not distracting to me.
If you want an alternative and like the idea of spending lots of money while also having one less place to put a bottle, check this out-

bluetooth speaker in middle jersey pocket w/eclectic iphone playlist

We don't have this for music necessarily, but when soloing it is good motivation, doesn't sit on the ear so you can hear other things, you can receive calls and if you have a partner you can speak with them on the road without being side by side. Great for warning of upcoming dangers. Terrano

Good idea. I think they might be. A week ago on my DOGFIGHT group ride I missed my clip in as we were turning left and as I was looking down to get my foot clipped I hit the curb. Only my outstanding bike handling skills saved me, otherwise a pileup would have ensued. At least there were no disc breaks in sight.

I didn't get the memo that said listening to music while doing something meant that it was so boring I need music to make it so unbearable. And if you think music is such a distraction that it makes you unsafe or unable to perform whatever task you're trying to achieve, then there's a bigger problem and you need to get your self-awareness in check, son.
