Can smart phones replace a bike computer? The one advantage I can think of is it is on until I am finished. My Iphone goes dark after a couple of minutes to save the battery so I don’t get real time speed without draining the battery.
I was looking at a gps bike computer, I think a Cat Eye. Do these havecany downside?
I haven't road with it yet since I'm waiting for frame replacement, but I paid for bike app Cadence, I don't use power meter, I just want basic cadence, speed, time, and turn by turn map without having to worry about additional electronic things to bring on a bike ride.

If I did longer rides that took more than 4-5 hours, yeah I think I would go with iGPSport, their prices are reasonable for the full bundle with turn by turn GPS. But I don't so I think phone will be fine for me.
