Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aftermarket Garmin 705 team shell for Garmin 705

Hi. Like many of you I have a Garmin 705 in black, which bought before the team garmin (orange/blue) version was released. Does someone know if by now someone is selling an aftermarket shell than can be installed on the black unit to convert it to the team colors?

Thanks,

Francisco

Good question. Not so much wanting the "team colors", but rather some other colors. White, red, white and red would be nice!!

tape up the screen and buttons with painters tape, scuff up the plastic bits with a fine sandpaper (1500 grit) then rattle can the colors you want. Tada!

I like the idea but I would be worried about it compromising the water resistance.

Well, I would not be so much concerned if the shell be exactly the same size of the original one. I see so many shells available for cell phones of all brands and wonder if somoeone has seen any of those for the Garmin's.

the paint isn't the water resistance, it's the seals. tape them up, you'll be fine.

The replacement of the shells should not affect the sealing of the unit, as don't think the seal is not part of the shell itself.

Reviving this old thread, any news on aftermarket shells for 705 or does anyone has a blue/orange shell for sale?
