Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The right handlebars

Im currently buiding up my first road bike since shattering my spine. I have very large hands and broad shoulders. I like the ideas of flared out drops (I love my woodchippers on my Fargo) similar to Salsa cowbell, but I would like Carbon. Any suggestions? So far, the rest of the build is a Salsa Colossal Ti frame, Enve carbon fork, Mavic Kyserium Pro wheelset, Ultegra drivetrain.

If you have broad shoulders, I'd steer toward a 44 or 46cm bar width if you can find them in that style of bar. 42 seems a bit narrow for what you're describing.

How many of those are both:
A) flared in the drops (see Woodchipper and Cowbell reference)
B) carbon

I'm interested in this thread because I'm a fan of flared drops. Just got a set of Cowbells for my road bike.

The Nitto Randoneur bar is also flared, but only made in aluminum as far as I know...

This is why Im asking in here. Given that I want flared drops, carbon, and wide enough for my shoulders (most likely 46), I havent been able to find anything that fits, so I was hoping someone would know of something that I didnt.

I only use metal handlebars ... & not superlight 7075 t6 alloy either..

bikeshops have catalogs of their distrubutor suppliers .. And there are abundant online sellers ..

you may be a market segment of one . Which will you yield to? the carbon or the flared part if neither are combined..
