What About This Bianchi?
Hi everyone,
Again one of our folks in our club is selling this bike and he asks about 70-80 Euros.
I am not so sure about the model and the components, can you please share your knowledge and thoughts with me.
Thank you

The shift levers and front derailleur are bottom of the line Shimano Tourney from the early 1990s. Bianchi never marketed a road bicycle at this low of a level in America, so I have no clue on the model. I also don't have any appreciation for values in the European market. However bicycles of this level and era were typically sold new in USA chain stores at MSRP of $200-$250 US.

Is this a Carcaus of some sort? It’s hard to tell too much about the bike from those pics. I wonder if that Tourney gear was added after some nicer stuff, maybe Suntour Cyclone, was taken off.
The Ofmega HS makes me think it might be slightly nicer than T-Mars gives it credit for.
At 70 euro it probably an OK deal but nothing special

I seriously doubt this bicycle had Cyclone or comparable derailleurs on it. The crankset is a cheap Ofmega unit with a swaged plate spider and what appear to be riveted chain rings. That headset is a basic steel unit. The Saccon Altex brakes also have a poor reputation. These components are comparable in level to the Shimano Tourney derailleurs it wears. Had it been originally equipped with Cyclone, I would expected a one piece forged crankset with replacable chainrings, an aluminum headset and more substantial brakes. The nicest aspect of the bicycle are the Ambrosio Elite rims.

Looks to be a entry level Eurpean Foriegn model from the late 80's early 90's that has had a lot of it's components upgraded. If everything works good and you like the bold paint I would say it's worth $150-175 US and 100Eureos in the European market.

Thanks for the pic of the whole bike it is an Aura which was Bianchis entry level Italian produced model in the late 80's basically a local market bike. The components on these seem to have been chosen to keep the bike mostly Italian manufacture and the price fairly low. It actually looks to be nearly completely original based on other examples I have seen on line and one I have say a while back at a bike coop.

A quick search shows other Aura with the same Shimano Tourney derailleurs and hi-tensile tubing decals.
